I agree, the late 90's were awesome american fender years. I have a 96 american standard in sonic blue and a 97 american lonestar in gold. Both have held up to the wear and are ageing gracefully. The pickguards are turning just enough of an off white to show the age. The neck wood even seems to be getting a darker more rich in color. Awesome video.
Late 90s u.s. strats are awesome. I had a 98 roadhouse strat, olympic white with a tortoise shelll pickguard. It played amazingly. If I get a new strat I will be searching ebay for a late 90s big apple strat.
The basic Strat is the American Standard Stratocaster. It's almost identical to mine. My Strat is a 1996 American Fender Stratocaster, but it is a Lonestar Stratocaster. The big difference w/ the Lonestar, is in the pickups. Neck and middle are Texas Specials, & a Seymour Duncan at the bridge. It also has a pearloid pickguard. They are making cheaper versions of the Lonestar, made in Mexico, but they are not as good as the ones that were made in America like mine. Hope this was helpful.
Hello Vela75, im living in Germany and bought the same guitar during our holiday at Key West in 1998. Its an amazing Guitar. I payd 900 Dollars at the Morrell Music Store + 90$ duty. At the same time in Germany, the Lonestar costs 3500DM. The exchange rate in 1998 was 1,34DM = 1$. US Fenders were expensive at this time in Germany. Today its more even.
They have gone up a lot here too. Well, actually everything has gone up. Way it is I suppose. I remember when American Standard Stratocaster was $600. and now they are $1100.
They no longer make the American-made Lonestar strat. They make Mexican-made ones, or at least they were. They are probably pretty good guitars, but I'm sure not as good as the American-made ones.
they were only meant to be 50 of each colour mate but they sold well i dont know how many were made or when they started making mexican but they no where near as nice we own the best strats mate ha ha
Really?!!!! I did not know that! So, there were only 50 of each of the colors of American Lonestar Stratocasters with the 50th Anniversary stickers on them? If so, that is so cool!
Fender Strat Lonestar 1996, with 2 texas special singles and a humbucker seymour duncan pearly gates.
I love this guitar, but I think the texas pickups are not very nice for high notes. The only pickup to use for gilmour solos on it (like coming back to life, for example) is the humbucker. Right?
That's awesome that you have the same guitar! I love this guitar. I bought it brand new back in 1997.
Well, I (think) Gilmour uses mostly the neck position pickup for his solos, but there are tons where he uses the bridge postion. Sometimes, he will switch to the bridge pickup right in the middle of the solo. He is amazing! Gilmour is by far, my favorite guitarist of all time!
I have to agree with everyone here, it does in fact have the "David Gilmour aura" to it. (That is a good thing) Gilmour is one of my favorite guitarist as well.
It's called "Teal Green Metallic". It always looks different. Sometimes it looks silvery, sometimes blue, sometimes green. I guess it depends on the lighting.
Excellent guitar! I have a red one XD

Not to mention that les paul customs were 325 when they were out. If we start that conversation we will nevah end.
P.S I like your tone in that video. Try it with less effects too

Mine has the 50th Anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock. It's a 1996 (the 1st year they came out with the Lonestar.) Pretty cool!

Are texas single coils, high or low output? Thinking of putting a dimarzio virtual vintage single coil in the neck.
PrsFenderJackson1980 2 years ago
i'm really not sure. I do know that the Semour Duncan Pearly Gates has way more gain to it than the other pickups.

I believe I was going direct on this recording. I was using all my effects, but then just going strait into the computer.

Texas specials are about the hottest single coils you can get
PoposNewGuitarChan 2 years ago
They are awesome!!! I love the sound I get out of them. They do sound so much sweeter than stock Strat pickups.

very nice song, buddy!
We have the exact same guitar.

Other than that, nice job, keep up the good work!
take care!
