You play sooo beautifully. I'm actually playing this on viola for my solo and ensemble this saturday. I try to mimic your vibrato and tone alot, and i think i've gotten somewhat better by playing along with you. Thank you! <3
Your viola has such a beautiful tone to it. When I try to play along on Youtube, your viola definitely overpowers mine.
I had to look this up for my lessons so I could understand how the melody goes, Thanks for uploading this I'm sure I can speak for all of us that this video helps a bunch. :)
Awesome video! :) I have to play this for my private lessons, and this video has helped me a lot to hear what the song is supposed to sound like!!!! Thank you! :D
you have provided me with my own personal help space, lol. since i can't afford to find any of the cds i just youtube it..and yours is always the best. thanks for your help :D
why do some violins sound scratchy, while others like this are clear, there are even better sounding ones! i dont uderstand this... nice job by the way!
Yes, this is a viola. But wood is also a huge factor in sound quality and character. As is intonation. So a mixture of quality of wood/parts and player ability results in the overall tone of an instrument.
thank you so much for this recording. i have to sight read this in viola for a prestigious posisition in a local philharmonic orchestra. i love the sound your viola makes what brand is it? and btw @playmorebluegrass, its out of book 3!!!! u teach suzuki?
You have a very peculier arm and wrist movement, you're bending your wrist too much to start also your sholder seems tense, it's raised too high or it might be the way you move your arm that is peculier hmmm... not sure, try looking up David Garrett's version of this and watch his playing. You did a VERY excellent job at playing this though! You brought out the dynamics unlike many people. Good job!
i think u used the vibrato a little to much after the repeat at the beginning.. i cudnt tell how fast the notes were suppost to go.. but awesome job anywayz. :]
You are very good at the viola! Its awesome! Im going to audition with that piece. I hope my playing turns out like yours though. Good job! beautiful tone too(:
Thanks so much for sharing this great piece. My daughter is preparing it for an audition next week, and I'm hoping you've provided her with that extra motivation we can all use once in a while.
Good luck with your daughter's audition. I'm glad my video is helping with motivation. I would recommend purchasing the Suzuki CD if you don't have it already. Repeated listening to the CD (even as background music) helps with motivation and practicing. The first question I ask my students at every lesson is "are you listening to the CD?" It makes practice more productive because the student has a standard of comparison. In other words the student knows what it's supposed to sound like.
No, you are not supposed to speed up, at least not according to the way it's marked in Suzuki book 3. I do speed up this section on this video. I'm not really sure why. I must have heard it performed that way and it just stuck with me. I think it is OK to do this. If I ever redo this video, I'll avoid speeding up in order to avoid confusion. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
You play so beautifully! Seriously, you are very inspiring! Thanks you for all your videos. especially the one in which you perform Seitz concerto no. 5. I am curently working on that but I don't play it as well as you do!
Thanks for you comment about my vibrato. There are many tricky parts - shifting, accidentals. Probably one of the hardest parts is making sure you get to the right part of the bow before beginning long notes. The long note at the end of the first phrase lasts the entire measure. You can only play this note if you work your way into the lower half of the bow ahead of time.
That was really good! I'm still learning this song, i hope i could play this good after i learned it ^.^ It would have been awesome if u played the violin!
I love the song, how the bow seems to float on your viola. Only one thing that is bugging me though: I found the part on Re string and Sol string a little bit rush, not passionate enough.
But overall, it is excellent, way better than me =)
Thanks for your comment. The bow movements in this piece are tricky. Good luck learning this piece. Please let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to send me a video of you playing this piece.
you have the sheet of this piece?

Are you playing the violin or the viola? because when I play it on my violin it is alot higher, and there are no shifts in my part either

It's a viola. Thanks for watching.

no problem, I'm learning this song for a contest and I have just been sight-reading it. Listening to different parts helps me also.
