yeah dude i like fast guitar solos a lot better because they are a good demonstration of skill but nobody can rip on wes. two-handed tapping technique and his awesome skill at eerie sort of riffs and repetitive tones are only a few of the things that make him sick

And FTR the best solos aren't written, hence they actually have feeling when performed on stage. All solos should be improv, it gives the performance a freshness and wow-factor that is much needed... And speaking of solos, are you aware that a shitload of drum solos are improv as well? Are they dicking around too?

@Contraband But being able to play fast is what is needed to be the best. If you play slow everything is easyer. That is the whole point of skill. I can play every song at 0.1 BPM. So being able to do stuff is mostly a matter of being able to play something up to speed. In my experience complex songs(difficult) are dynamic songs so both fast and slow to colour up the song. A mother piece, for the love of god - steve vai, is fast so fast is part of being the best, being able to do everything.

There are thousands of people who can play really fast, but not nearly as many who can write a good song, or a good solo for that matter.
