  • Hi mate,

Just got my self the follows equipments

    1. x2 Pioneer CDJ 2000 firmware 4.04

    2. Pioneer DJM 2000 firmware 2.01

    3. Serato SL3 with scratch live v2.2.0

    4. Sony Via Lap Top with windows7

    How do I connect them.

How do I get the Midi on the mixer to talk to Serato.

    Thanks

  • got a question man.... I have some DENON S3700 and with them you can have up to 5 songs ready per cdj.... with out computer... can you do the same with these pioneer ???? cuxx they look pretty sweet and wanted to know that so i can get some if they do ???

  • @djaoki Thanks a lot man. i see the waveforms now... Cheers!!!!

  • @youdinn to see the waveforms, Serato needs to analyze your tracks. To do this, unplug the USB wire that goes from Serato to your computer. In Serato, you'll see a button that says "analyze tracks" to the left at the top of the folders that your tracks are in. Now drag all of your tunes from the folders and drop them onto the analyze button. You'll now see Serato scanning the tracks. This will take a bit, but you only have to do it once.

  • MY DECKS WERE ON ABS MODE BEFORE THATS WHY I COULDNT PLAY FROM THE CDJ 2000S. SO I CHANGED IT TO INT MODE... NOW I CAN PLAY THE SONGS... BUT STILL I CANT SEE THE WAVES IN MY CDJ SCREEN???? PLZ HELP ME OUT!!! THANKSSS

  • MY CDJS 2000 HAVE VER 3.2 AND THE SL3 HAS THE LATEST 2.2. WHEN I CONNECTED THEM AND THE MIXER I CAN CONTROL THE SONGS ON THE SERATO FROM MY CDJ BUT CANT PLAY THEM. I DONT EVEN GET THE WAVE ON MY CDJ SCREEN TOO... CAN U HELP ME PLZ??? THANKSS!!!!

  • hey,,,how do

u connect the use to comps?+ how do you swith dj?\

    thx

  • do u still need the box if you have the cdj 2000 with serato or you can just connect the rca to the mixer and ready?! HELP!

  • @xXDeejayIonXx you can do either.. now u have more options, you can either use serato sound card to plug ur mixers and cdjs together OR u can plug ur cdjs straight to ur USB ports, thou ur still gonna need your sound card for your mixer..

  • @djplayback04 oh nice thanks brotha

  • How do you hook up your mixer in this case if you dont need the RCA's? I still occasionally use CDs for older music that i dont have on my Hard Drive. I know you still need the Serato Box. I have CDJ900s and DJM800 mixer. I havnt updated to 3.1 yet..im running 3.0 it still works but has some minor issues,,im going to upgrade firmware as soon as i get home..i didnt realize they improved this already..thanks for posting this! Have a great 2011 summer!

  • @stevevfpa you still need the RCA's for the mixer.. ur cdjs will go straight to ur usb ports but not ur mixer..

  • dici ke non hai copiato da steve aoki no?

  • Wait a minute.... you're not the Aoki I was looking for!

  • I have the Rane 68 and CDJ 2000 I did everything you said to do and its not working correctly can you help

  • @DJRICHARD210 First...this might be an obvious question, but do you have serato and the SL box?

If so, please explain what youve done far amd the result in more detail so I can help.

  • @djaoki I have the Rane 68 with Serato SL BOX built in and the software is updated on both CDJs and Serato Software... I connected the usb to the CDJs to laptop to a USB hub and connected the Rane 68 to the laptop as well..... I did the steps on the CDJ utilities and the right deck (cdj) plays on the left channel and the left deck ( CDJ) doesnt play at all....

  • @DJRICHARD210 Hmm. I have a feeling the USB hub is an issue. Do a test. If your computer has 3 USB inputs, connect both cdjs and serato DIRECTLY to your laptop. Do not connect your hub. In serato, see if both decks are recognized.

  • @djaoki I have a macbook pro only has two usb the hub is brand new....

  • @DJRICHARD210 What brand USB hub are you using and is it powered? I've had issues with my Belkin hub where at time only one cdj would be recogniZed by Serato. If I saw the issue first hand I could diagnose and fix rather quickly. Shite!

  • @djaoki yeah it is a belkin.... BTW I tried on my mac desktop has multiple USB and still wouldnt work

    Thanks for helping me

  • @DJRICHARD210 Going back to your comment where your left deck plays on the right channel. You can choose deck 1 and 2 in the cdj upon setup. If you are selecting cdj 1 on the left deck and it's playing on the right channel, then it seems there might be a wiring issue. Follow the RCA cables from the back of the cdj to the SL box. Make sure the left deck is connected to "1" on the SL box and right deck connected to "2". I know some of this sounds obvious, but the issue is usually something silly.

  • @djaoki i did check and they coneected correctly i think the issue is the rane mixer

  • @DJRICHARD210 Are you having issues just with audio coming out? Does serato recognize both decks? The mixer shouldn't affect the communication between serato and the cdjs.

  • hey.

do you need the rane sl 3 ??? for working with those cdj's.... ????

  • @djkevinkayd Nope. I still use SL1.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing!

  • Hi There,

Got a question. I got Serato and the CDJ 2000's setup and almost everything is working fine but I can't see a waveform on the CDJ 2000's.

I downloaded Rekordbox but I don't know if this makes a difference and if I need to do something in Rekordbox to make the waveform appear.

    can someone help me??

  • @jordibouman Easy fix. Serato needs to analyze your tracks. To do this, you must unplug the USB from serato to your computer and open serato. Next, hightlight all your tracks, then drag and drop them onto the button at the top left that says analyze. From there, serato will build the waveforms amd BPMs. This is something you only need to do once. Hit me up if you have trouble.

  • @djaoki Thanks!! Works fine now.

  • really love your videos :P more quick tips!! would be orsom!

  • What a boss, Full Cdj 2000 setup, Mac book pro, A&H mixer, Dirty monitor speakers, fit girlfriend, what more can u ask for?

  • @djDav3Dee Thanks, mate! I sent that message to GF and she blushed. It took a while to collect all the right equipment. Anytime you are in NJ, you can come by and spin.

  • @djaoki On the CDJ´s or on your girlfriend ?? :) LOL

djDav3Dee is totally right, it´s a real nice setup (and girlfriend ;) ) and finally the 2000´s are compatible with serato. Now Pioneer and Rane need to take care that you only need to plug your laptop into the DJM2000 and everything works.

I would pay even 200 bugs more for that option.

    BR´s from Holland

  • I think if you can operate your set up there you can fly a spaceship. Is this true?

  • @sungwei9 Partially. It depends on which model of spaceship.

  • @djaoki If you hit 188BPM do you go back in time?

  • nice video Pal, I like your set up. my question is why use Serato when you have the cdj2000? as an old timer dj, i find so much more joy beat matching by ear rather than staring at the screen. i tried DVS for couple of years like many other dj's who made the switch to serato / traktor, but i felt like i was not progressing as a dj and realized that i'm depending on a machine that can crash on me anytime during my set. my 2cts. thanks for the video .

  • @muslou Great question. I had Serato for a year and half before I jumped to the cdjs. I had a really hard time transitioning from being able to flawlessly mix with vinyl to sloppily with CDs, so Serato worked for my needs. As cd tech started evolving, I fell in love with the cdj 2000s because it allowed me to travel with my decks and not my computer.

Also, Serato keeps my tracks organized and allows me to cut beats up hike playing live.

  • @LSUzealot as long as you have version 2.0 or later, there should be a series of icons on the top left corner. Thenicons have dots and lines that represent the different configurations. If you don't have these icons, check the settings to make sure they aren't being hidden.

  • how do you setup your serato to have the wavelengths on top of each other and horizontal?

  • how do you setup serato to have the wavelengths on top of each other and horizontal?

  • Do you still need serato sound card?

  • I need you to walk me through these steps with the cdj 1000mk3 please sir lol

  • My cdj 400 will do that now why send so much money for the cdj 2000

  • smooth video! and i feel for those mud wrestlers' Christmas! LOL

  • how did you get a .6 on the bpm

  • Comment removed

  • what is serato?

  • do you do actual gigs? because your set up is so nice and tidy lol

i would hate to take everything apart everything for a gig and have to put everything back all over again

  • Comment removed

  • @NickVanHouse I don't gig much any more. I used to throw a lot of events in NJ and NY, but with work these days, i don't get to play out much. Plus this setup is an absolute nightmare to travel with. I miss the days where it was just my technics and a mixer.

  • how do you setup at slip roll in serato??????

  • @clanoue1167 Slip roll is In the midi section. Click midi, the "show midi panel". You will see it in the loop area of the MIDI panel. I'm pretty certain that you need a midi device hooked up to use the slip roll. I could be wrong though.

  • 3.1 is old i got from pioneer the 3.2 then you have already the full libary function and jog update;) check this and your vids are great!!

  • @PioneerWorkshop thanks! I actually filmed this a week ago before heading to Jamaica and finally edited last night. Pioneer moves fast!

  • Hey Aoki would you be able to do a set up video from scratch of your setup as it would be very intresting. Also what speakers do you use??

Brilliant video cannot wait for more vids to come along :)

    DTB

  • @Drummingtechboy I will start thinking of putting together a full setup video. For my speakers I use M-audio bx8a monitor with a bx10 subwoofer and a mackie SRM450. Great sound for playing at home, but I wouldn't recommend using the maudios for parties. Thanks for watching!!!
