@algu11 Randy used the White Jackson on the U.S Blizzard Tour on Flying High & Believer,it was Tuned down a Step or mabey just a Half step?And on the Diary tour he used iton Over the mountain too! Unfortionatly they didnt get to add any other Diary tracks before Randy Died .

If that sound check makes it out in it's entirety, without Ozzy overdubbing the lyrics or some producer slicing it up to make it fit in the movie, then we are going to have a bombshell on our hands. Hey guys this video is something I always suspected to exist all through these years. There is a whole concert that was the warm up rehearsal for the 82' "Diary" tour that has always existed. This is just a clip from that whole rehearsal that was done in Los Angeles in December of 81' right before the fist show of the tour in SF on DEC 31. It sucks to have to know this all these years

There was always pro footage but for some reason this bitch Sharon or someone else doesn't want it to come out. This video is a proof and the other one ozzy with letterman which shows something like a video clip.. Hope they release all these footage on dvd someday.. yeah, i mean, in the live tone his tone is soo bassy, and he has this roll, so im trying to figure out which pickup hes been using (treble-super distortion) or (rythm-jazz), but the thing is in '80 and '81 you can tell he used his treble pickup, but it sounds like int eh solos in '82 hes using a shitload of chorus. reverb and rythm pickup. but i cant know for sure...

exactly, the pinch harmonics wouldnt come out, my theory is he only uses his treb during rhythm playing...

and hah whats more important, dialing in his settings on a different amp or firguring out what pickup hes using? look my amp is jmp but without the cascade. you cant get tht bassy tone with just a jmp eq or mxr, its delay, chorus, reverb, etc. i acctually know his eq settings.

also he has a type of "rolling" in his tone, which he always had from even quiet riot times. which leads me to believe its the constants, his fingers, his pedals. however theres no way tht touching a string causes the rolling, its somthing with the pedals. the guitar isnt constant, and neither is the amp nor the settings on them, its the pedals, and of course him.

i know that he used a "shitload of chorus" and *flanger* so it has that oscillating or rolling effect you were talkin about... and back to the part where you said you think he used treb for the rhythms, i think thats true but when you listen to, for example, the minneapolis show, it seems like hes got it on the neck pickup the whole time but i cant figure it out cuz he plays the pinch harmonics like its on treb......so frustrating!

yeah i agree! but if you listen to i dont know from king buiscuit then you can hear the treble pickup with chorus, reverb, still bassy but there. which leads me to believe tht hes certainly using his rhythm pickup on the solos with his jackson and karl sandoval. which also may be due to the feedback, i think using the rhythm would cut down on it. also, one thing people neglect to mention is his roland space echo, a tape echo reverb unit that gave him parts of his tone.

OH DUH. his mxr 10 band eq, mxr d+ is the constants here. even in the '80 and 81 shows he had it, very trebly sound, not too much chorus either. its his mxr d+ and mxr 10 band eq. and in '81/'82 he musta changed his setting on the 10 band eq as well as his amps.

It sure does sound bubbly in that live take. Im almost inclined to say he is using the SD Jazz in the neck.. It's just too full and bubbly soundig to be the bridge. IMO.
