i went to watch this movie with my school gsa. it was an amazing movie, and then when i whent to go visit my family and saw it with my mom too.. she lovd it. i just bought it at a garage sale. it is amazing and i am gonna watch it again soon.
I just wish they would have shown more diversity in the LGBT community- i.e. showing more of the women in the community as it just focused mainly on gay men.
algonquin91: you make an interesting and valid point. In spite of the films great qualities, much of it was focused on gay men. In fact much of the entertainment that is marketed to the LGBT community is centered around good looking people rather than a more diverse cast. That being said it's impossible to represent all of us.
I watched the documentary The Times of Harvey Milk when I was a teenager in thei 80's and so was eager to see this film. It was very, very good on all the points you mention and it is very inspiring.
I loved Milk. I had the chance to see it as a double feature with the documentary, The Times of Harvey Milk, which is also excellent. I think you can watch it on Hulu for free, if you're interested.
There's a strong shock of recognition in Milk, too, because it seems like we've been re-living the events of his life in the last year or so.
I completely agree with you! I don't cry in movies, but towards the end, when everyone was marching in the candlelight vigil, the tears just started flowin'. It hits close to home for anyone who's GLBT, so I couldn't help but feel connected to Harvey Milk...he was an amazing person.

Did they get into the Twinkie Defense? I think thats the craziest part of the whole story.

edAVP1138: YES! They mentioned that. Through the tears some audience members started laughing when that came up, including me.

It looks like a good movie, but it's not playing anywhere here in the bible belt. Imagine that.

GreatGig1: the city of San Fran is also feeling the electricity of this movie. Milk is once again the mayor of Castro.
