This is me today. Trying to remember it's just a day like any other.... I only turn 35 today. Can't imagine what I will go through in five years when I turn 40. :(
@coursestudent : 40 doesn't feel that different from 35, IF you have a life. I used to have a life/career/future, but got my back broken and my life ruint by an ambulance-chaser. I wish you all happiness and success, go forth and reach the heights that I never did, and keep on goin', girl!
@starlightja : They TRIED. Roseanne brought it over, with Jennifer Saunders & Dawn French @ producers, & of course, ABC/DISNEY *could*NOT*HANG.* CBS had a delightfully-deviant version of AbFab for a minute, but of course, having grown women ACTING LIKE GROWN WOMEN, drinking how they wanna, living how they wanna, and NOT just being OBEDIENT BREEDERS, you know THAT wasn't going to fly with the bibul-banging baby boomers & other geriatrics that watch CBS! They yanked it before it even flew.
@Marshhen actually gay men understand women a lot more then you give them credit for; they have that more pronounced feminine side which enables them to understand women a whole lot more, and also straight women confide in them more then they do straight men because there isn't the possibility of attraction within that relationship.
I don't think they're deluded at all, some may be full of shit, but I know many gay men who understand women really well.
Great clip from the Dynamic Duo. I love getting older, feel much more comfortable in my own skin now. @acefanaticishot - You should think of yourself like a Fine Wine, mature, smooth, velvety but with a hint of fruitiness. Patsy and Edie are great role models for mature women. lol
Definitely a favorite Episode from 1992 "No! No, no, no darling! I will not have a surprise. I will not have a surprise party. If it's going to be a surprise, I want to know about it, alright! Because I want to decide when I'm going to come and what I'm going to wear if I do come, alright?
You can't expect me to go to any old bloody party, darling."
i was recently in a bar with a friend who introduced his MALE friend, jokingly, as the most dangerous woman in the city. i immediately became the most dangerous woman in that bar...i wanted to say "Not Quite.", but instead i asked him where he bought his bras.
I believe I have heard in one of the specials about abfab - that saunders would not write any more slaps in the show from Julia - because she really hits... :-))
I hate how gay men think they know all about what is hot in a woman and that they understand women. Its such bs. Men know about men and that is it. I love my gay friends but when they make pronouncements about women as though they are experts I just want to leave the room. It is a pathetic delusion they seem to have, that our popular culture just encourages.
marshhen, you confuse "woman" (sex) with "femininity" (gender). There are women (sex) who know very little about femininity (gender), and men (sex) who have little truck with masculinity (gender). Your comment is shallow. FAIL
Heres a thought why dont you get up on the 30th of October and go buy yourself a playstation 3 and Tekken 6 and watch me kick your ass with Anna Williams and you can see how much a gay lad knows about a woman. ;]
What I think is absolutely amazing about this show is how drastic these characters are from the people who really play them. They're all a bunch of lovely people, for the most part, who're brilliant writers. Additionally, the actress who plays Saffy has an absolute gorgeous figure and I hate how they dress her (even though I know that's her character) xD!
I have CL perfume and whenever I put it on I always say "Lacriox?! Christian Lacroix?" And then my hubby just stares at me like im nuts...LOL!! This show s brilliant, I love it!!!!
What persistently inspired writing! Saunders (Edina) and Lumley (Patsy) were both fantastic, throughout. Sawalha (Saffy) was an unmatched (not to mention beautiful, in her own right) straight man; indeed, one cannot imagine this programme without her. Unbelievably talented. Whitfield (Gran) is whimsical and wonderful, and Horrocks (Bubble, my favourite) adds her brilliantly surreal touch of comedic genius. One of the finest television comedy series of all time. Always, always enjoyable.
D ... Dr ... Dra ... Dram ... Drama .... Drama Q ... Drama Qu ... Drama Que ... Drama Quee ... Drama Queen ... Drama Queens !
And I think it is hilarious!
(I was introduced to the 'drama' aspect in 2005 when I began working with a group of women at a hi-tech manufacturer ... and I loved every one of them!)
You probably know this already but Patsy actually calls Saffy Helena Bonham Carter in one episode, and in other Edina has a dream sequence where Saffy is played by Helena!
u know...i believe it's the last ep maybe. not the specials, but of the regular series. I havent found it yet, but will ask my british friend which it is.
I think there are two eps in which eddy acts the housewife and patsy the husband. The scene I remember is eddy dusting the lint off patsy suit jacket after which she (edina) mutters "anyway howcome she always gets to be the man" LOL
LOL the one im referring to is when pats is heading off to work, eddie is in an apron and reminds pats not to forget her briefcase (?)...pats goes to leave and they lean in for a kiss goodbye and they both look at each other and shake their heads lol just too funny
hehe trying to get my brit friend to check on it for me as she has every series on dvd...but she is balking cuz she says once she starts, her whole weekend will be gone cuz she wont be able to stop! hehe
it's the one where saffy goes off to school and eddy and patsy are living together. I think it's the one right before "the end", where patsy goes to new york and eddy goes into some rehab place
Indeed, even though I do love the Gilmore Girls as much as AbFab. I have noticed that AbFab is funnier than usual after watching a Gilmore Girls episode.
adrian edmondson...what?? I had no idea that he had anything to do with the Ab Fab crew.....Now that you mention it though, I think that I can see a slight influence of his lol!
The theme song sounds a little flat for my taste. Other wise a very funny show.
