@metroidfannumber1 if your serious about the dial-up, I would suggest Avira... Even though the updates would take about 30-50min. It's pretty reliable on detections. I have not tested out their plugins for internet browsers, so I can't say anything on that.

I used AVG, my computer began messing around. What I did was unistalled AVG, and installed Avira AntiVir free version. Did ONE scan through whole system, didn't take too long, and guess what. out of 500GB of files, I found meself a lovely horde of ~70trojans and several worms.

Gotta love AVG.

I used to be with AVG on my VMWare Virtual Machine, but I find AVG to over pretective now! I went to download something off download.com, it was WinRAR. And it said it was under security level 6! So I uninstalled it and kept the link scanner and now run Avast it's sooooooo much better! AVAST IS THE BESt; apart from MSE (Microsoft Security Esentials!)

IMHO, AVG was good; may be version 7, but after that it went downhill. Avast 4.8 has an ugly GUI, but it has improved quite a bit in version 5. AntiViri is good but it has an annoying pop-up, however, i found a way to disable it. So, it's all boiled down to preference.

Bullshit. I use AVG last 6 years and my machine never crashed during this time. I work alot with trojans, virusses and worms and AVG never let me down. Read some indepth reviews of security experts and you will know. You read biased reviews if you think AVG fails.

AVG + Comodo Suit = Best security imho for now.

Both freeware, both fully tested by experts and labs.

AVG is lacking in support of p2p, anti keylogger (api hooks), where comodo comes in. Comodo also has defence+, which is A+

Hey again. I didn't experience much lag of AVG, only a bit at bootup, but it's ok. It's running on my old laptop 1,5Ghz cpu without problems and with small resources, which is known for. The definition db covers a large scope, so maybe you opened up a packer which has been scripted. Those files are never scanned with the resident schield of avg, only with indepth scan. Unknown files should always been executed in virtual space / os, hence defence+ (comodo). Try it, you will love it ;-)

Good luck getting a refund if you need it- The software is great but it conflicts with another program and there is no way to completely shut off AVG - not even taking it out with run>msconfig>startup etc. It still loads about 7 different executable files that suck up system resources. Only noticeable though if you're running graphic intensive programs like driving sims. but it when it came time for a refund they gave me the run around then ceased communication with me.

i always used avast had no problems, although the newer versions 5.0 is a bit looking annoying, so i sticked with the older 4.8 version and am very happy of what it does. literally it stops or prevents on viruses coming from anywhere whether its external drive or net, it has a alarm tipe of notice stating a virus so you most likely just of a sound press option given abort connection or delete file( you can try fix it too). so yeah thanks for video i think Avast is still a king on free-ware AV's

Ok, here are a few things. 1. I personally think Avira AntiVir is the best out of the 3.

2. If you can afford it, Norton 360 is the best AV ever (i have it) 3. If your dumb and just want cool looks get Avast. If you actually CARE about virus detection get Avira. Avira takes up more memory but the full scan is 3x faster than AVG
