  • 100% uncut, 100% real, seethin' with feelin', this stuff is the mainline I tell you.

  • No use a hollerin' no use in screamin' and crying... No use in hollerin', no use in screamin' and cryin'.. for you know you got a home, mama, as long as I got mine... Oh Lord have mercy on my wicked soul.. Lord have mercy on my wicked soul (ya know I ain't gonna mistreat you baby) I ain't gonna mistreat you, baby, for my weight in gold.

  • Forget "race"...it's not a valid biological concept as your inability to draw a line proves. Ethnically, Patton was "black". Pardon my sarcastic reference to the race and identity confusion of others....pardon my excessive ethnic pride too while you;re at it.

  • Long live the Blues. nuff said.

  • Jackson on a high hill, mama, Natchez just below Jackson on a high hill, mama, Natchez just below I ever get back home, I won't be back no more Oh, my mama's gettin' old, her head is turnin' gray My mama's getting old, her head is turnin' gray Don't you know it'll break her heart, know, my livin' this-a way? Ever woke up in the mornin', jinx all around your bed? Ever woke up in the mornin', jinx all around your bed? (spoken: Children, I know how it is, baby)

I'm goin' away, mama, don't you wanna go?

(spoken: I know you wanna go, baby!)

Take God to tell when I'll be back here anymore

  • I think Charlie's singing sounds alot like an American Indian's Chant...

  • He was a Guitar Playing Genius!

  • was this guy black or white?

  • @sethlesniak he's a mix of white, black and cherokee, hope that helps.

  • @sethlesniak -- Charley Patton was White, Cherokee, and Black (mulatto).

  • @OctoBox ...Charlie Patton was American.....or do you have to see his birth certificate?

  • @PeluMaad -- What are you talking about -- I was talking to someone else about his "racial" mixture not his nationality.

  • @OctoBox ...LOL...his American "racial" mixture?

  • @PeluMaad -- What are you on about now? American is a "Nationality" whereas to say White, Black, and Indian is to talk about "racial" identifiers -- what don't you get?

  • @OctoBox ..I don't get your point...if you have one.

  • @PeluMaad -- Forget it.

  • @PeluMaad a white/black/cherokee american with a scottish name.

  • @MurdaZen .....like most of us "black" folks....

  • @PeluMaad naahh, like most african americans maybe. Most black folks have, well african names lol

i dont get why you put black in quotes, im a white dude, i can accept everyone calls me a colour im not really.

  • @MurdaZen ....."white, black, cherokee"......equals "black" in America and people will even insist it's a "racial" designation..

  • @PeluMaad Are you saying that being black dominates his Cherokee roots? Both are so much a part of his music. He represents both sides of the most oppressed people in America during a devestating time. You can hear that in his voice. The brother's got the blues.

  • @MurdaZen His Cherokee background is a huge part of his music.

  • @donttouchmybikini ...Nonsense...he probably never heard Cherokee music or language in his life. He lived his life in the Mississippi delta where one culture existed, divided into black and white. He was part of the first generation of blacks to move from banjo to guitar. His music reflects the adaptation of African derived banjo technique, rhythm and harmony to more European derived song and dance structures.

  • @PeluMaad Cherokee have a really intense history with African Americans. Many Cherokee owned black slaves...many tribes also helped runaway slaves and were a major part of the Underground Railroad. It's a rally dynamic relationship. To say it didn't effect him is poppy-cock.

  • @donttouchmybikini ....The Trail of Tears went through Mississippi...and that's probably the extent of Cherokee influence there.

  • @PeluMaad whatever you say, man

  • @donttouchmybikini are you cherokee? i reckon his daddy was a white man (because hes called charlie paton) and his mamma a mix, i reckon he wasn't very oppressed, i can see him sat on a porch drunk as fuck singin like tht strummin away. you know not all white people are racist. nd america wasnt so heavily populated back then. so he coulda slipped through tht oppression net. but i just like to think positive

  • @MurdaZen I'm pickin up what you're puttin down. Charley Patton is a God. End of story.

  • @MurdaZen ...you reckon a mixed couple lived in rural Mississippi...???.....Really???

  • @PeluMaad im sure there was the odd rational person back in them days surely, so yes i do, gotta remember its a big place, im sure it woulda been an easy kept secret.
