Am I the only one who t hinks that this could have beaten out both All About Eve AND Sunset Boulevard if it had been nominated for an Oscar in the 1950 Best Picture Category? Come on, this is WAY more timeless.

The times have changed these were made back in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and so on. At the time the company was really struggling to make these films, and it was Cinderella that saved the company. If Cinderella wasn't a success that would have been the end of the Disney Company, and that was back in the mid-50's. Some of the characters are played by the same actors.
All you people need to get a grip. They're just animations if you don't like them then don't watch. I happen to be one of the most biggest fans of Disney and I am learning about the company. I hope one day I get to work there. These films were made so you could feel like a kid again. To escape from reality and slip into a fantasy. Every girl wants to be a princess and every boy wants to be a pirate, or a hero, and of course, everybody in their life time wants to be a villain.

To everyone who posts the same comment as disneyfandango, I don't mean to be rude, but are you aware they JUST made Toy Story 3 last year? I'm telling you, it's not the whole company you need to attack, it's the tv department of disney, the execs there have no respect for Disney's prestige, past and present...their animated movies/shorts get little to no attention as i said in my last post compared to their supposed-to-be popular tween stars.
... then my heart's desire is to fly on a broom, assist Santa, nearly crash his reindeer in a mall while flying right through it, breathe underwater, get shot in the head multiple times, swing around on a rope like Tarzan, ride dinosaurs, twirl around like a tornado, and meet a bunch of weirdos; ALL in a world where reality is different and people can walk on air just by thinking it.
True Disney fans can respect not only the oldest films, but the newest also. Things change. Like Pocahontas said, "the river's always changing, always flowing". Just like Disney and the direction they take themselves in.
I, for one, love the new movies they've come out with. I think princesses like Tiana and Rapunzel can hang with the classics :]

This is still one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. I love Cinderella's voice, the incredible artistry, and great storytelling. Even for all the greedy practices of Disney as a company, I'm glad that they still feel they have to live up to the excellent quality of films like this one, which causes them to keep making beautiful animated movies.
I used to watch this all the time as a child. I'm 27 now and still have alot of life to live, but whenever I hear this I am once again that chubby child with the curly hair, happy as ever.
I love this film and everything but Disney have made a slight error in thier film-making...she is supposed to be called CINDERella because she sleeps in front of the fire, in the CINDERS on the floor!! Not a bed!! :/

@Boyonspace I'm a singer, and I have a theory that's it's because of the way that voice lessons and people's mouths form when they're singing. It's mostly because of this: that when people sing now a days, they don't open their mouths the same way to make that beautiful sound. Also, when people talk differently, their children learn how to talk (and sometimes sing) from them. It's a pity, really. It's one of the hardest kinds of voices to have nowadays. :(
I always think this song is just comforting and sweet, but when I listen to it 22 years old and slightly toasted, I realize what a trap shit like this is. Get out while you still can, girls, before you are sorely disappointing.

I miss those old movies :P I'm not old but I was younger when I watched them (now how akwerd that would be if I was OLDER then now when I watched them XD) They made you dream, think about the world and feel like a child o3o and taught you to never give up. @disneyfandango i think they're moving in a fine direction. These films had a time and a place. The animators and writers who made these films are all dead and gone. The art form has changed and evolved. The classics will be classics. Their attempt at bring these films back are sequels. This thinking that the animated film is dead needs to stop because it's narrow and incorrect.

@Boyonspace I'm a singer, and I have a theory that's it's because of the way that voice lessons and people's mouths form when they're singing. It's mostly because of this: that when people sing now a days, they don't open their mouths the same way to make that beautiful sound. Also, when people talk differently, their children learn how to talk (and sometimes sing) from them. It's a pity, really. It's one of the hardest kinds of voices to have nowadays. :(

Just to se the record straight Cinderella is a REDHEAD not a blonde!!!!! Such a moving and inspirational scene, she is what all humans should aspire to, believe in your dreams and yourself, and good things will happen. :)

I miss those old movies :P I'm not old but I was younger when I watched them (now how akwerd that would be if I was OLDER then now when I watched them XD) They made you dream, think about the world and feel like a child o3o and taught you to never give up. @disneyfandango i think they're moving in a fine direction. These films had a time and a place. The animators and writers who made these films are all dead and gone. The art form has changed and evolved. The classics will be classics. Their attempt at bring these films back are sequels. This thinking that the animated film is dead needs to stop because it's narrow and incorrect.

In that time we've gotten Princess and the Frog, Tangled and even Winnie the pooh for crying out loud!! Animation and good stories are obviously far from dead there. The only Disney rant I'll accept are its channels, i mean look at how their sitcoms are scheduled, and even worse, look how much attention Mickey and friends get compared to the tween stars. it's ridiculous
