I find it funny that so many americans need a false belief for comfort. It would be better if they didn't block stem cell research and try to not to have us teach "id" in public schools. It is hard for me to accept other peoples faith when I have none and they demand that I have theirs or my opinion doesn't count. When will my fellow "brights" stand up?
A true Christian is a person who believes and receives God into his/her human spirit by CALLING, audibly, upon the name of the Lord Jesus. "Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His name." John 1:12
You have to interpret scripture using other scripture. You can not just pick a verse and apply your own reasoning. In light of other scripture Jesus says those who do not love Him are children of the devil see John 8:42-47. Pretty much eliminates all religions of the world exept Christians. Sounds like a narrow road that not many are on. It narrows furthur within Christianity itself when you read Mathew 7:21 which is addressed to those who are professing Christians.
Why wouldn't you be when you are the living embodiment of one of the things G-d detests - 3rd of the 10 commandments where Jews were commanded not to worship any idols. You worship a dead, whore fornicating thief. This is who you have for a "lord". Or is he the Messiah? Or perhaps the "son of G-d"? I simply can't keep up with all his different posts.
Sheeps, as in "domestic animals prone to blind following as long as there's promise of something to eat". It's great to have such followers, I'd love to be your god, Christians.
i don't mind any church as long as you preach tolarance of others and others religions and don't try and put them in hell cause that not your place and your sin is no less sinful then thiers. But no faith at all just seems sad
Look, people believe because they are brain washed to believe the way the churches teach them. They assume their respective church leaders are scholars w/out a bias; they are neither scholars typically & they are bias. If you want to learn to use your own brain then go to pesherofchrist doooot infinitesoulutions doooot cam
anderson cooper FROM CNN IS A SELLOUT!! Did you see his latest report about New Orleans? He didn't even talk about the slow recovery and real issues. He talked about broken fema trailor being sold on auction websites, and didn't mention the school system.
These kids in New Orleans are getting messed over by our government officials and fake ass anderson cooper doesn't really care. He said he was "keeping them honest" but he's all talk.
The media almost always presents these two approaches - science and religion - as polar opposites. This is misleading. We hardly ever hear of a higher-minded, wise and objective blending of the two. There is an ancient body of esoteric knowledge called the Ageless Wisdom Teachings which has been brought to the attention of many intelligent people in the present and past, Albert Einstein being just one example. For more info see Share International website - click on Ageless Wisdom Teaching
I am going to be sick to my fucking stomach; can't believe CNN is again pandering to the sheeple. Religious people are deluded. Once you realize that there is NO GOD, you start to see "worship" for what it is: A MASSIVE WASTE OF TIME WHERE PEOPLE "PRAY" TO NOTHING AT ALL!!! AAAAAARRGHH!! Get a hobby!
i agree..you've put it in a nutshell! A born again Christian is the only kind that will receive a home in Heaven, for the Bible says "ye must be born again".
Modern day churches are popping up all over the world, however Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,today and forever If we coe to him, we must come by the way off the cross. Read John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23 & Romans 10:9 in the KJV.
Rather than feeling insulted by your misinformed commentary, I had to laugh. Thanks for raising my level of endorphines! I come here from the Iberian peninsula, which happens to have hosted the Occident's only historical epoch of peaceful coexistence between these three major religions... under the rulership of Muslims. It was unfortunate that the uneducated and beastly Christian militias took over Iberia in 1492. With Christianity comes strife, war, and misery.
Was Jesus narrow minded? He said wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to DESTRUCTION and their are many who go in by it. Narrow is the way which leads to life and FEW find it. Matt 7:13Sounds narrow minded not tolerant to me.
Perhaps if you look at this passage in another way such that narrow is the path to life because it is harder to maintain, it is more challenging to be wholsome in a world that is "broad" with its fivolous ways.

Sounds like a narrow road that not many are on. It narrows furthur within Christianity itself when you read Mathew 7:21 which is addressed to those who are propfessing Christians.
Far from being "me" focused, UU's focus their spiritual development (weekly worship, covenant groups, social advocacy etc.) around 7 principles. Here are the first four:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
Oh jeez, this is sounds propagandistic and vapid. Just because you believe in something doesn't mean you "negate, disrespect or discriminate" other believers. This stuff seems more like group therapy rather (Opraesque) than a spiritual connection with God.
Let's sing, indeed! The God that I know and love and worship is unafraid of our questions and diversity. We can believe differently and still produce good fruit, which is the basis for any judgment of right or wrong (Matt. 7:20). Would Jesus have posted a sarcastic comment like yours? I invite you to reword your comment with more respect and kindness.
All Souls is one of the best churches in DC and the country. Rev Hardies might be one of the most important ministers in America today. His message of acceptance, celebration, and inclusion needs to be heard! I am VERY lucky he is my minister:)

I find it tragic, since the Christian religion teaches peace, accord, and charity, but finds it impossible to follow its own precepts.

The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part
