  • I love how all the reviews for HBP had something bad to say about Transformers 2!! (which came out 2 weeks before) Michael Phillips is awesome.

  • I did not like this movie, it was literally too dark, very, very, boring, and I hate the characters to a certain extent. I personally would give this movie 2 stars. What I liked is the cinematography, so while everything is so dark, what you do see is very good. The action is at least somewhat entertaining, and the acting isn't all that bad. Still, this was a huge disappointment to me, I know I will be hated for this, but that is to be expected.

  • The one thing I dislike the most about this movie, is that the death eaters can fly in wisps.

Makes Voldemort being able to fly in the 7th book rather meaningless.

  • @UnknownXV I know what you mean, but they actually try to make it look like they're apparating.... Just don't get why the black smoke xD

  • 3 and a half stars??

Harry Potter is a classic...people 20 years from now will watch this movie and your giving it 3 and a half??

    Well that's outrages !!

  • Comment removed

  • @Talk2Jacqui the first hp movies were classic....the rest went downhill from there

  • @Talk2Jacqui 3 1/2 out of 4, not out of 5.

  • I really didn't like this movie. The whole high school wizard and witches drama just didn't interest me, and it's as if they all forgot about the "danger" half way through the movie and was more interested in their love stories. And then in the end they remembered, "oh, yeah.. we were supposed to fight bad guys..or something." And had a half assed ending conflict that was very anticlimatic. And I still don't get why did all the bad guys just left hogwarts after they've conquered it.

  • @rbrtchng

Don't agree that the movie was BAD, but it was pretty anticlimatic, yeah.

  • @rbrtchng what the fuck, hogwarts isn't high school it's better than high school. It's strictly kept in the books that education is important, but they decide to ditch school in the last book which upsets rons mother. The death eaters didn't conquered hogwarts...it's clearly that you don't read the books.

  • I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about our opinions on THE MOVIE, not the books. Sure you can say that the books did a better job at explaining everything and the movie failed that, but THE MOVIE failed to explain it; therefore, THE MOVIE was not good for me.

  • Awesome movie, getting it on DVD in 2 days hopefully ^^

  • There needs to be a remake of this film. Sure the cinematography is excellent but it's the story that's so out of line from the book. What was the point of the whole movie if the death-eaters make it to the Hogwarts only to stand behind Malfoy as he is supposed to do what he is supposed to do?

  • The whole point of the book/film was that Dumbledore dies, and Harry is leaving Hogwarts, not random actions scenes

  • the movie was ok except for the last act, especially the ending. The Book's ending was way better executed.

  • i think harry potter is interesting....i still have not seen this film- only half- but the previous films are very entertaining...=)

  • i can't believe you think that harry potter is better than ROTF. Sorry dude, but you have a bad taste in movies.

  • Sorry, but are the one with a bad taste, for thinking that the noisy loud and hum. noisy Transformers 2 is better than Harry Potter. HP has something in the movies, Transformers is a piece of merchandising. It is horrendous.

  • Hermoine.

  • In Half-Blood Prince, Harry keeps saying that he is " the one, the chosen one" just like Neo. At least Neo gets to the point, and he is prepared for the enemy. I expect Harry Potter at this point in his development to hold his own and not get beat-up so ease. How many more Harry Potter movies will it take before Harry can stand his ground against another magician. The movies have been forcing out the same thing, tragic life and personal lose, with little magical development. WASH, RINSE, REPEAT

  • In the books Harry is developing into a really good wizard. He is very good at DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS not at CHARMS,that's way he doesn't know how to fix his nose.

  • Has any one noticed that Harry Potter hasn't gotten any better at his magic on his own. This is movie #6 and all i see is harry Winging-it all the time. He just points his wand, closes his eyes, cross his fingers and hope for the best. Harry Potter should have been a master magician by now. He should have been able to fix his own broken nose when he got off the train. The directors of these movies need to give Harry Potter a need for preparedness sense so many people are out to kill him.

  • you obviously havent read the books..ur that fan that watched the movies only..Harry isnt supposed to be the most powerful wizard, the story just evolves around he`s tragic life..its not ur typical movie that the lead character is the most powerful one..( he said it himself, all this years he had been lucky) he`s not supposed to be the Super wizard.this aint that stupid the matrix Neo the "chosen one" shit..

  • He's too occupied trying to lose his virginity to bother practicing.

  • i agreed i love HP series but harry is just pathetic character draco malfoy is cooler than harry and i think he should get a bigger role in final book/movies but rowling completely left him

and made him a douche from the 1st book/movie until the end that just suck. anyway this is just my opinion

  • @jokernotfunny Draco is a complete fuck up, in the end him and his family don't know where to go...so basically the whole malfoy family is fucked. Plus, Harry Potter is the golden character, hence the name "HARRY POTTER and The Half Blood Prince." not "Draco Malfoy and The Half Blood Prince.

  • worst harry poter movie ever. its painfully boring. its almost like watching angels and demons all over again.

dumbledore dies and snape is the half blood prince.

  • This one sux

  • When I saw this movie, my first reaction was, "I waited 8 months longer for THIS??" Very disappointing. Could've done A LOT better. Change of directors please??

  • i really like the potter movies, but this one sucked

  • Hey, don't forget, it's Daniel, Rupert, Emma and Tom Felton who amke Harry potter what it is...

    XD

Tom Felton is an amazing actor and really is the star of this movie!

  • Is 30 minutes of HBP filmed in 3D as the rumors were saying? And if it was what part is that?

  • Dumbledor dies snape is the half blood prince.

  • also out of all of the movies this is the worst the only exciting part was as i said earlier, the firestorm and the death of dumbledore if u dont read the books then ur missing out on alot

  • totally not worth the 7 month delay!

  • Like they always say, a move is NEVER like the book. The books explains so much and yet a movie can only explain what is considered to be important. This movie covers what WB thought to be as the important parts: love and romance, the growing intensity of the Deatheaters vs Harry, and a little bit about the horcrux and voldemort's past that leads to the 7th book. The movie was dramatic and not very action-packed. But every aspect of the 6th book that LEADS to the 7th is covered.

  • BECAUSE THEY HAD TO MAKE SOMETHING GOOD IN THIS MOVIE!!!

I'm sorry because all of this but I had it in me for too long.:D

btw. I'm a HUGE fan of HP.

    Thx

  • This is WB's biggest mistake. They think taht 1-5 Harry Potters are baby films and 6th one is for teens.WB!!! Harry Potter 6 IS NOT Twilight! The point of the film is not love and romance,it's just something that HP crew discovers as they grew up.The main subjects are horcruxes,Draco,The War and HBP.

btw.Yes,Harry is stupid enough to stand under stairs while Draco is trying to kill Dumbledore.WB are you outta your minds?!

Do you know why did they made the funny parts?

  • Comment removed

  • But how could they cut out scene where Dumbledore tells Harry what are the horcruxes?

What the hell is he gonna do in 7th part.

Also,Michael Gambon is the worst Dumbledore ever.Don't you all remember Dumbledore from the book. How he nonchalantly talks about death,Voldemort, how he disappointed he is when he sees the entrance to the Cave, how power radiates from him.How funny he is,but also very, very wise and you can see all that by looking at him.Michael Gambon is nowhere near being Dumbledore!!!

  • I agree, even though i haven't seen the movie - yet - i think he is "angry." Its hard to explain, but, the dumbledore in the books is very calm and wise. Like in harry potter 1 and 2. when 3 came out, i was wondering if dumbledore lost his wife during his summerholidays.

  • Watch it, Cause Dumbledore is extremely calm in the movie not angry

  • Didn't you hear? Dumbledore is gay.

  • Dumbledore doesn't have a wife, he is gay.

  • oh, thats right =P

  • Comment removed

  • I really expected this film to be the best but another disappointment from WB. Now let's resume the film:

First (as they always do) they have cut out the most important parts they cut out the memories. They throw in just 2 memories.

And ,ofcourse, they threw out scene where Harry finds out that Snpae is responsible for his parents death.Dude, that knocked me out when I read the book. Also, they cut out the fight scene at the end.

  • I liked the movie but the end was a little dumb

  • even the lord of the rings movies were crap compared to the books, and those were pretty epic. and they still left out like half the story. it happens

  • Yeah, although they do extended editions, which are over four hours long, I myself wouldn't mind that with Harry Potter, but of course, they're probably a bit lazy and won't do that. That probably would've made me enjoy Order of the Phoenix much more, since it deserved a much longer length, instead of it being the shortest movie, so they could do their best to fit 870 pages in the movie, then they could've added the scene where Harry goes nuts and starts throwing shit around.

  • This film isn't about copying it out word for word, its about improving it from the book and highlighting the best bits, and the film did exactly the opposite. They highlighted the romantic bits and comedy parts, but lets be honest, we don't watch Harry Potter to get drunk, get horny and have a laugh. I was really excited about the fight scene at the end, and I was waiting for it all the way through the film for it. Then all that happened was Hagrid's hut got burnt to the ground... Whathehell?

  • This film was the worst of the Harry Potter movies, in my opinion. It forgo the black ring memory, only showed Dumbledore's blackened hand once, and it tried to be funny, when it wasn't. I think that they wasted way too much time trying to be funny and forgot about the important scenes that lead to the seventh. In the book, Dumbledore explained what all the horcruxes were, and in the film he didn't. Also THEY LEFT OUT THE FIGHT SCENE AT THE END!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • Dude...all of your complaints are the same complaints you SHOULD'VE made about the third movie. The third movie left a ton of shit out, and that's the movie that tried to be funny when it wasn't. This movie was easily the funniest, Harry Potter films aren't really known for much humor, but this one really did it. Also, it's kinda stupid to be NOW complaining about the fight scene not being there when when they announced they weren't gonna include it a long time before the movie was released.

  • @mario54671

Yeah, but the third movie does not have that much to do with the seventh or any of the following so it was ok they did it. By omiting crucial elements in no 6 they pretty much screw themselves in the next one, because it's going to take a loooot of time explaining waht the hell's going on.

  • who fought at the end

  • and they left out Dumbledore's burial.

  • i did almost fall asleep when I saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

  • Dude... did you guys really expect it to be a FULLY EXPLAINED COPY OF THE BOOK? Two and a half HOURS are more than enough, don't you think? If they tried to explain everything in this movie they'd have to split it in two like they're doing with the next one (Deathly Hollows). I do think that that scene around the Weasley's house was unnecessary and they could've spent that time (or more) explaining Fleur and Bill. That's the main gap for the next movie, but overall it's still thrilling and cool.

  • total crap of a movie, moved too slow, left too many gaps and had the weakest end of all 6 HP movies. One of the least like the book movies so far.

  • what do u mean transformers was actually pretty cool but not great MEGAN FOX IS :) !!

  • best slow-mo running scene ever!!!!!!

  • i honestly thought this movie was alright i mean i read the books and like them more and this is no exception i really don't have 2 many complaints about this movie b/c i'm a book fan first and ppl need 2 realize that movies based on books always have a debate around them and no1 is ever truly satisfied with the end product

  • wat drug are u on? u gotta be high to even think this crap was good. The water in my gutter is more exciting

  • movie was fuckin gay

  • It was more a lead upto the climax and the climax being the next movie

  • And the way Dumbledore dies, Snape telling Haryy to ssssh was hilariously stupid. A Two and a half hour movie and all they could come up was this load of crap?

Scenes that should have been included:

-The Prime Minister meeting the Minister Of Magic

    -Some mention of Fleur

-More memories (which the movie should have been based on in the first place)

    -Dumbledore's Funeral

    -The duel at the end

And what in the hell was the Burrow scene about. Absoutely horrible movie and an insult to the book.

  • I really don't know what you mean, out of all the films I think this was the best adaptaion, normally they feel rushed and confusing, but HBP covered all the important bits without getting boring.

All of the points you said should have been in there (except the funeral and duel) would have been boring as a film.

Don't forget that these films are usually meant to compliment the books not replace them, and anyone who really cares about Voldemort's past would have read the book already.

  • "anyone who really cares about Voldemort's past would have read the book already."

That was a very important part and learning about the past is what Harry has to do the whole year in order to know better how to finish him. People who havent read the books dont know shit about horcruxes and what not.

Some books you just can't change too much in an adaptation

Honestly as a Harry Potter fan, this really is a terrible adaptation. They missed far too much stuff and half-explained the rest

  • I aggree. Too many things were Not explained, or simply left out that should have been in there.

  • "normally they feel rushed and confusing"

And this didn't get confusing or rushed at all? The burrow burning? The abrupt ending? No sense of direction throughout the film.

  • And that is why someone like you will never direct a Harry Potter film

  • the duel of who?

  • HEAR HEAR or 'EAR 'EAR

  • The best book of the series and quite easily the worst movie. The book was based on horcruxes and Dumbledore teaching Harry about Voldemort's past and the horcruxes. All the memories were important (The Gaunt House and Hufflepuff's Cup ones were a must). The ones who haven't read the book won't know shit about them. The pace of the movie was too slow. The cheesy comedy was horrible. The movie seemed to have no plot at all.

  • draco disarmed dumbledore. thats all that matters. idk if they cut out the fight scene, because all i cared about was that the elder wand is now loyal to draco, and that was the most important part of the movie

  • True

  • tell me why they held up the movie for 8 months and still not have the fight scene included, why have malfoy work so hard on the cabnet, that made it pointless if it was not going to be put into the movie...movie was good but that was one of the most important parts to clue you in for movie 7(the ending altogether)....not understanding why the director got so lazy at the end when he was doing such a good job...he could of cut out some of those love scenes since he didnt do it right anyways...

  • the movie was held up because of marketing reasons, WB knew they would make more money in the summer, and they were afraid of competeing with twilight. i think it was a smart move

  • needed better and more fight scenes

  • Grayae519, I'm sorry this wasn't like Transformers, but a good movie doesn't need action, it needs substance, which Michael Bay doesn't really get.

  • o... no i meant mainly the fight scene right after dumbledore died because it seemed like it would have looked really nice (judging from the fight scenes from the fith which was the only good thing about the fith in my opinion) and i was dissapointed not to see it but i did really enjoy the movie otherwise and i agree with you i didnt like tranformers 1 or 2 :)

  • Hmm..yeah I would've liked to see that, too, but I get why they didn't. They wanted to avoid being repetitive since every movie always ends with a fight/action scene, and they didn't wanna show this fight scene and show it to everybody before seeing the final one, I guess they wanted to save all the fighting until Deathly Hallows. I'm very excited about the last one, although I would like to know how they're gonna play out the Bill Weasley and the Elder Wand since that'll have to be modified.

  • And that's waht I really don't get...as an audience you have come to expect that and the excuse that they wouldn't want two Hogwarts battles because the audience might get confused, is total bullocks. The two battles are so completely different that if done right no one would even think about the one that should been in the sixth film come Deatly Hallows.

  • No, you don't have to. I just was already aware about all the cuts they made from the book, like the Funeral, the fight scene, Dobby, Rufus Scrimgeour, Bill, Fleur, the muggle prime minister, etc. So, I was disappointed before seeing the film, so I wasn't expecting much after so much was cut, and being told from somebody who already watched it before me, that there was no action. So it of course, met my expectations because they weren't set high.

  • i agree

  • Here's the thing though, I have a good feeling if they put the fight scene in, it would've been pretty bad, like the 5th film, which all the fighting was watered down to the point where there was barely any and it was so rushed. Like, that 30-40 second Dumbledore vs. Voldemort "fight". I can't believe people are complaining about the 6th movie cutting important parts out while the 3rd did exactly the same thing, but while cutting stuff out, they added other stupid stuff in.

  • This movie is good but only for diehard fans . Personally im not a HP fan and i think that this movie sucked. Complete booredom.

  • I would not say for diehard fans for I have only read the first 4 books and i had to watch the 4th and 5th movie for i had not scene them before I went to see this one and I loved it and I am no where near a die hard fan if the fact I had to catch up did not point that out

  • well, it's an adaptation! it can't be just like the book, but when dumbledore dies i didn't cry, and on the book i just couldn't stop the tears streaming, but the movie was the best !

  • Slecht Film boek was beter. Movie sucks the book its bether.

  • go review a people playing scrable

  • how can this guy hate transformers he sucks

  • I hate how American adults say Harry Potter or other HP terms. It's so annoying. It's like they've never said the words before. An example would be like Hogwarts, or Hermione. They say it so weirdly. And I'm American too.

  • I wonder how much does this guy get payed for overrating the movie like this, hmm

  • Right when this guy said his favorite movie was Prisoner of Azkaban, he lost credibility.

  • Thanks man

  • i dont really like this one, there isnt that much fight scenes. and the fight scenes r like 1-2 min. and in the book, there was supposed to be a battle at the end. there wasnt though. the 5th movie had more action

  • this was better

the book barely had action too

  • movie is better than ootp

  • ya but next book theres another huge battle at hogwarts, it would be boring to watch same thing in 2 movies.

  • EXACTLY

  • The books are better then the movies. we have known that since film one. People have read the books, they know what happens in full detail. Yet, when the film leaves out some stuff, suddenly its all wrong. They act like what happened in the book is any less true because the movie didnt display it. The job of a film adaptaion is to take the key points then portray them. It is not and should never be a word for word retelling! If you want that, read the book again. 6 films, it is expected.

  • I 100% agree. You shouldn't expect the movies to be EXACTLY like the book. (Especially when the book has 500++ pages) Just cause the movieis different, the world isn't coming to an end. The story is still the same, and that's all that is really important.

  • Please check out my Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince review!

    Thanks! Long live HP!

    ~cachow7575

  • David Yates can eat shit and dieeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

    He ruined the 6th film.

  • i saw this movie last night it was good in my opinion the best out of the series it was funny, scary, and had romance. it did leave alot of things out but you cant expect it to be PERFECTLY accurate to the book but i do have to agree with that if they added a scene that never happened in the first place they cud have used that time for at least sum of final battle at the end.Itdid thoughcontinue theseriesand show you the MAIN parts of the book(not counting the final battle)I give the movie 4.5/5

  • 6th one makes prisoner of askaban look good in other words its terrible huge letdown

  • lol at you book purists

  • The only thing the bothers me, is the acting on the younger characters parts and the staleness of the relationships. It's awkward to watch.

  • I am not a hard core potter fan I'm just stating the facts.

  • The Movie was way too long and it was totally boring, the details from the book that should have been left out were not and the details that should have been in the movie were not, I give it a 2 out of 5.

  • this movie was boring and a joke plus the ending fight was LAME!

  • I personally was very excited to see hermione's birds in the movie as well. although the whole love aspect of the movie got tiring, i felt that the comedic relief was necessary to even out all of the heavy plot points, otherwise, it may have ended op like OOTP, ehich i thought eas rather poorly done. (i expect it to be my least fav. tho. IMO it was my least fav. book as well)

  • Movie was BAD.

  • i cried before dumbledore died right when snape was lookig at harry, (did he "shh" him? i don't remember) it was like he almost changed his mind... but then he saw lily's eyes... glad that draco disarmed dumbledore though, kinda would've ruined everything if he hadn't

  • yeah!go with the red head Ron.lol

  • Yea, I was worried about that while watching it :P

But then Dumbledore said, "I'm gonna make this easy for you, Draco" *holds out wand*

    "Expelliarmus!"

And I went "Ahh.... there we go" ^^

  • the sucky thing is i started the books got to the 4th one but couldnt finish cuz i rented it from school and it was summer soon and i dont have a pub. libr. card:(

  • DUDE.You have HP in your school library???

You are so lucky. It took me half year to find place in my country where I can BUY them.

  • i think that if u havent read the books u will def not understand the final 2 movies

  • I agree, i wanted to see his mom, and the night she died, even if they wanted to do the love potion thing, she used one on riddle, so they could have done it hat way

  • srry for the vent, as far as the movie goes though, i liked it, sectumsempra was awesome!

  • THE FREAKIN STONE IN THE RING WASN"T CRACKED!! and where was the DH symbol on the res. stone? they didnt have to mention the peverells, but gees... they forshadow about snape, but not the hallows!? whatever

  • it needed the battle, because it felt like it had no climax at all

  • They didn't have the battle because it would feel repetitive with a battle here then in the next one. This was their last shot to make happiness. Let it slide, save the gloom and doom for next

  • this movie was teh best in the series AMAZING -yes things were left out but whts in this movie is perfect

  • Why, oh WHY, did they leave out the final battle? I thought it was going so well, but then nothing

  • this is a set-up movie for the 7th one, calm down.this is a movie not an Audio book that would take 24hours

  • I know, but still, it was one of the main points in the book and it's just a shame that they left out what I thought was the best bit

  • the third movie was, and will always be the best one, I just loved it

  • this movie was boring as hell too much romance more like a chick flic

  • atleast the romance here is more believable than that emo Twilight dog loving siisy vampire right

  • Comment removed

  • what? this movie was funny, scary and had great acting the best in the series and the cinemetography was perfect what are you complaining about>? dont focus on the things they left out but instead on the movie

  • exactly, i almost fell asleep, I can't even remeber some of the scenes, and I saw it on wednesday, it was a chick flick

  • i think this movie must be seen by sum1 who followed the harry potter series all along cuz i m not one that followed the series. but i wached it with my gf, who followed it all along (the books the movies) n i hav no idea wat the whole movie is about. so ya, jus a piece of advise, either watch all the movies from b4 n then wach this 1, or dunt wach it

  • I did mention watch with caution... lol

  • Honestly, why does everyone seem to love the Prisoner of Azkaban movie? They completely changed things from the first two movies (the location of Hagrid's hut and the whomping willow, the new Dumbledore was rough and definitely not serene like the book Dumbledore is), and they tried way too hard to make it look artsy and symbolic. It felt rushed and just... odd. And the talking Jamaican head in the Knight bus? Personally, I thought it was a disaster. It's so weird to hear people praise it.

  • (cont)According to this film, we have NO idea what the horcruxes could be. It could be Voldemort's toothbrush for all we know! &the funeral?? a scene that not only shows Ron comforting Hermione, but allows Harry to break up with Ginny for her safety. & its a beautiful scene and I was awaiting the vision of all those different people&creatures joined in his memory. Really couldn't give that to one of the most amazing characters? I was dissapointed. hope for #7?Overall 2/5. Acting WAS at its best.

  • (cont)Where in the hell are the weasleys going to live? When will we find out Bill and Fleur have met at all? Why is Ron looking like the biggest jerk in this movie and why are we watching "The Harry and Hermione show"? Every shot left him out. I hope its just to prepare for Ron leaving in the 7th. And I know they get hormones, but jesus. We can't even fit in the relevance of one horcrux? At the end of the 6th, Harry has at least a CLUE of what he's looking for and WHY those objects are relevent

  • Just a few things: The movie is funny, sweet, and likeable.IF you have not read the books, or if you did not expect much or if you simply wanted to laugh and see the lots of kissing, then you were not dissapointed. I, for one, have read the book. And I cannot WAIT to see how they will make sense out of all they left out. I think 70% of that movie was something I'd never read.&sure, 3 hours, you have to cut something out. But to add an irrelevent nonexistent scene, you obviously had time to fill?

  • I loved every part of the movie i hade no problems with the movie itself but i think that any thing missed in this movie will come across in the last two movies and the Bill and Fleur romance will aswell and i love how this film hinted to some things in the last book such as the Wand and Dumbledore-Snape relationship

  • it was a okay movie 3/5 review

  • i might sound like a dumbass but i didnt read the books and dont want to that way i am not dissapointed by the films. I dont want to walk out of a theatre saying to myself that the book was alot better! so i think this movie is a great movie with a few jokes and had me on the edge of my seat (literally) at all times

  • aw. sweetie! i totally cant let you do that to yourself. don't not read the books just so that you wont be dissapointed by the movies. you are really missing out on an excellent 7 part story. if you like the movies, i think you should read the books as the stories are like 50 times better! :) in my opinion the books are worth the time and disappointment that any of the movies provide by not exactly living up to them. :)

  • IF YOU HAVE READ THE BOOK, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NO ACTION IN THE BOOK SO THEY CANNOT FAKE ACTION THAT CLEARLY ISN'T THERE.What I really don't understand is why they cut out Bill and Fleur and the battle at the end. I liked this movie, but they cut out some. It's all leading up to the last movie though.

  • Comment removed

  • My gosh people think logically. If you are a real reader, then you would know that each book series has a book in the seris where a point of development is needed. If people, NOT THE READERS, THOSE WHO HAVENT READ THE BOOKS, saw this movie and just saw random details that really don't play to the core story and ending of the series, then they wouldn't feel a need to watch. The teenage hormone crap? It is to make us, an audience, feel closer, much closer, to the characters Shut your mouths -.-;

  • I agree with you completely.dont know if you're from the US, like i am, but i've noticed that a lot of americans dont enjoy reading when they know they can take the easy way out and just watch the movies. i love my country, but it is one that is powered by television. it is a business after all. they make the movies to make money, and the truth is that a LOT of the audience hasn't read the books

  • I am from America lol. And I'm not criticizing people who don't read, I understand some people actually can't and just won't admit it. But when you have people on the internet complaining about the movie, they have to understand that the movie is made for those who wanted to read the book but never could. I cried when Dumbledore died and I heard some non readers do so to.I don't mind non-readers, unless they complain, its the readers (myself) that areannoying sometimes. DONTWATCHTHEMOVIE THEN@_@

  • intelligent answer, i never even thought about the people who CANT read, especially books as extensive as harry potter. what i dont get is how people expect to see the book word for word on the screen. i'd love these guys to name 1 even lord of the rings cut out like 10 chapters or so over all three movies

  • Well the thing is the people who went to see the movie a few days later and some on the release date is those who read the books. No offense to some readers, but a lot of them are close minded nobodies who don't comprehend money use, movie making, or anything about the work it takes. To me, the movie was incredulously long and I am glad they left out quite a bit. I am shocked they even put aragog's funeral in there! I thought they wouldn't, and even the whole lavender brown thing. Great movie :D

  • I completely agree. So many of these complainers don't understand the art of filmmaking. I was surprised at how much wasn't cut, too.

  • Thank you :3 I'm reading some of these comments and they are acting like proffesional reviewers. Do not review by the book, you review by the movie. Again, its an adaptation, not word for word remake of a book. :/

  • thank you, i'm glad someone understands that.

  • Yup :3 I mean I love reading s much as the next guy but come on people >> Get a life. These are made for people who have a life, not those losers who flood book stores -.-

  • Exactly! I personally think this movie has lots of creativity put into it. I especially like the burrow scene. It made me anticipate the duel between Molly and Bellatrix in the finale.

  • what bothers me is that they showed the funeral for Aragog, and left out Dumbledore's... how sad... The director must love Spiders... LOL

  • XD I was shocked 'bout that. But I think they might put the funeral in the next one and instead of giving Ron, Hermione, and Harry the items from Dumbledore during the wedding in the 7th book, they might do it during the wedding scene, so it works out :S

  • maybe, these people would want to see thought bubbles on the screen so as not to left out every detail. lol!

  • I've read all the books, and I just saw the movie last night. I actually really loved it. Sure, they left out things, but that's only to be expected. It was a 3 hour movie already. It's an ADAPTATION of the books -- not an exact account. I was pleasantly surprised by the feel of the movie, and the humor! It was great! Sure, it could have been better, but there's always room for improvement. Not everyone's going to love it.

    I did, though!

  • I loved the movie and I am a book fan too. You need to consider the movie different things from the books if you're going to have hope of being happy with the films.

  • I am a huge fan of the franchise but was utterly disappointed with this movie.l suppose reading the book over didn't help cause so much of the important clues and info was left out and adding this burrow fire just upset me . Dumbledore wouldn't have left harry so utterly unprotected knowing all he knew..I feel that the true essence of the book was lost a lot of alterations..I watched it twice yesterday and i'm still a bit upset. But I'm not going anywhere, looking forward to the others.

  • This guy makes me laugh! Beautiful pacing?... Not rushing?? Hah!! Just great, how about the relationship between Harry & Ginny?... or Dumbledore's elaborate funeral ending? It's very clear Michael, that you NEVER READ THE BOOK!!!

To those who never watched the movie, yes it was a good movie. BUT if you READ THE BOOK AND LOVED IT, this film will leave you disappointed and a bit upset. So watch with caution. Again the film was good, just not my cup off tea.

  • Of course the book is better than the movie, but that's the case in almost all book based movies. It is a very good movie, and the best in movie series in my opinion. The director is also planning to put in Dumbledore's funeral at the start of the next movie. The battle at the end of the movie was also omitted because the director felt that it would make the final battle at Hogwarts in Deathly Hollows redundant

  • You got a point there, but I didn't feel warm & fuzzy with this film. And yes, I do hope they add the ending for the last film. I have to say though, this movie left me a bad taste for the inevitable final film... but I always keep an open mind. I hope they do right.

  • great review, and everyones who is dissing the movie please shut the fuck up already. The director did a great job at combining the entire into 2 and 1/2 hours, yes they left shit out, but it was still amazing, comedic, action, morally enhanced, good scenery, special effects were perfect, and amazing acting by our beloved cast, good night everybody, and harry potter rocks

  • how can u say they did a good job it was shit because they left out so much shit and then added stuff in that a complete fuck up clear you cant read other wise you ll have relised that it nothing like the book
