@Talshet well AA systems are not a lot of use, cause they can jamm them, happened in the latest wars F-35s are used as jammers and spotters of AA stations and Radars. AA systems are just a preventive or disuasive defense, they are not a definitive defense.

@Atemerus firstly, they wouldnt waste missiles on tanks dropping, they would go for planes, secondly the initial assault wave is meant to wipe out most of the AA and jam the rest(via fly-over by several frogfoot jets) and finally, the only AA that would be left would be 7.62 or 12.7 miniguns which wouldnt do anything to a tank

To think that a nuclear submarine would be used in a, essentially suicidal role, when the sub is hugely costly to lose and can be re-used, and then comparing that to the military in general, is both vastly stereotypical, and wrong.

my ancestors were russian, but i'm not a russian citizen. and your arguments are made on guesses, how you "think" that radar would catch a surfaced submarine. and how you "think" that russia would rather have a submarine then an enemy city vaporized. stereotypically wrong? russia seems to have the highest number of deaths on the battlefield in almost every war, WWI, WWII, etc.

Because thats what detection equipment is for. Sonars, hydrophone arrays, modern radars etc.

However since the primary doctrine was to fire from under the ice caps they needed to surface anyway otherwise the missiles would have bounced off the underside of the ice. However they have been able to fire whilst submerged since the mid to late 1970s I believe, with the Yankee classes, but definitely the Delta and Typhoons could fire whilst submerged, and both were in service in the 1980s.

Why is it that every time i go to a video related to war, whether it be a videogame or a movie, someone is always lecturing us about how war is bad. How "A" defeated "B". How this country is an asshole, ETC, ETC. Or what we currently have here, two people arguing about Vietnam. No matter how good a video is, it somehow ruins it for me whenever i scroll down and see people like this on war related videos all the time. @NecroPhoenix USA did NOT get beaten by Vietnam, I'm so tired of people saying that. If you look at the casualty/death toll of both sides, the US had much less deaths than that of the Vietnemese. America wasn't fighting it's own war, it was intended that we would help out South Vietnam against the communist North and decided it wasn't worth losing so much soldiers and pulled out.

And the length of the war shouldn't conclude as to whether or not the it was America's war, the fact is is that the war belonged to VIETNAM and I must say that the US had no other business being there other than to help the communist-free south.
