If you notice, the warp drive on Voyager has a more feminine sound to it then the Enterprise-E. I would love if they included all the correct warp sounds in Star Trek Online.
Lol the Voyager one at the end was hilarious - looked like the ship was about to split in half! And what was the blue ball? Looked like the thing Luke used for lightsabre practice on the Falcon. The best warp effect is TNG's blue nacelle flash and the stretch followed by the white flash.
Awesome video otherwise! Star Trek ftw! Wish we were in the 24th century so much! I would love to see Earth and all the other planets from space.....or possibly even the surface!
@Korolev61 as long as you can generate a large enough warp bubble, anything can be put into warp speed, so you really wouldn't need to have one on every pylon because technically, the base would not be moving, space around the warp bubble would be moving, while the base was a a stand still. The "movement" of the ships is for effect for the show, just like the sounds in space.
@Korolev61 But DS9 was never designed to move more then half impluse. It doesn't have dampers to handle that kind of acceleration. Not to mention that the station is like 50 years old. In season three it was getting sucked into the wormhole and would have been crushed like a bug.
Kirk @2:40 is brilliant. And the thing I love about warp drive is, the theories behind the whole concept aren't as far fetched as you might think. Einstien said you can't achieve light speed, but what about creating your own pocket of reality around your ship where laws of physics are warped. Scientifically speaking, warp drive is theoretically possible. Maybe one day one of our children could give that command......'Engage Warp Drive' *shivers* :D
They raise when Voyager charges it's warp field. Basilcy it helps it travel at high warp for longer periods. Apparantly these types of Nacelles don't cause negative natural effects like Sub-space damage or no longer threat inhabited worlds unlike the Nacelles and warp fields on eariler ships.
i had an assumption i was something to do with the warp fields, was this something experimental for the voyager or was it standard for all intrepid class ships?
The Intrepid class and the Deltla Flyer were the only types of ships to feature these types of Nacelles I believe. The Prometheus class also had retractable/movable Nacelles too but only in it's Multi-assualt mode.
Yep, it was standard for all Intrepid-class ships. Although there have only been two; Voyager and Bellerophon (DS9) shown and they have similar registy numbers, so likely built at the same time. But who knows about the rest of the ships in that class?
I loved that flyby of the Enterprise 1701 (from TMP) nr the end of the video and the stretch thing & sillhouette when she went into warp - that was great, along with the majestic TMP music!
Omg, roflmfao so hard @ disco-tunnel XD This video was hot and this is exactly how the warp function in the new STO game should be. I mean, like actual sequences, not loading screens. 5/5
The last one was one I tried to make myself, using a very complicated program. I couldn't really figure it out, so everything went wrong. The ball was ment to be the warp flash.
I loved the special effects on star trek: The Motion Picture. But they could have made it a little more actiony. More space fights. mabey a few phaser attacks. Something fun.
yesh it certainly looks like a soverign with some work done to it which would make sense seeing as this game is 10 years after the last TNG movie (or is it 25? I'm not sure)
i doubt you can ever go through space that quick...there too much debris..that alone will turn the ship into dust. But it is possible to travel at 60 times speed of sound apparently :S
Right right i know. From our present point of view, these speeds are out of our range. But who knows what the future would bring?

My favorite Warp Speed shots are when they leave an after-image or when the lights are dragged back before closing the distance to the ship, it seems much more realistic.
Quite a few repeats there... It's not a different clip if you just take the same one you already showed and show more of it..
