  • strong contender for best suit sweating.. second only to james brown

  • What a crappy place for a show. Theater of this nature needs to be performed in a dimly lit club.

  • James himself looks a bit worse for wear with age, but his voice is still in fine form. What a great combination of punk, soul, and experimental sound.

  • It gets no better.

  • they're still bloody awesome to my ears and eyes. Would die to see this in person

  • well ... he ... is ..... ...... ..... old

  • eternally indebted

  • i saw him live in the '79 ...

  • 1:17 i need to know what chord/7th/3th/8th/triad/powechord whatever is he using ¡¡¡

  • Is that Alex Desert at the beginning?

  • hahaha!!!

  • they've made lotta better versions at same year, prehaps bad lineup this time

  • i love jody i played a show with these guys in 1996 at bimbos in sf, i think that is don christensen.

  • YES. I love that he's still into it. I was thinking about the fact that he's in his mid 50s and still touring and i was so curious as to how he sounded and acted on stage. This is such a relief.

  • Is that his wife up there grooving?

  • Line-up: Jody Harris (guitar) Pat Place (guitar) Don Christensen (drums) ? Sanko (bass) ? (2nd sax)

  • That is Judy Taylor. She is his other half but they are not, to my knowledge, married.

  • @dwemmy no his mum he was late for school and she could not find her drugs in fact she had taken them all

  • Holy fuck they got old

  • FYI to the comment down below. It most definitely is Christensen on the drums.

  • Music plays the musicians. I mean no respect at all, I loved the Contortion's music, still do. But that sound is relevant to a time and place already expired. Music is an energy, and that changes, can't be controlled or put on tap like draught beer...It comes when it feels like, is never stable, there's no fault. I'm sure that they (Contortions) are well aware they don't sound the same and anyone hoping to see them unchanged is naive beyond doubt...I'm happy they are mostly here.

  • i was there. great show. so cool to see a legend.

  • to all of the haters-do better and see you in 30+ years...

  • YES!!!!!the king off../THANX

  • Everybody looks suntanned, old and drippy. no George Scott, that's the problem. Who's the drummer (not christensen). It sounds really uninspired.

  • To the jaundiced eye, perhaps, but for those young'uns there it was the best Contortions they'll ever see, and they loved it.

  • agreed. love chance, but shit dawg

  • I think it is christensen

  • @dubuffet69 That is definitely Don Christensen. Jody Harris and Pat Place on guitars.

  • @dubuffet69 That is definitely Don Christensen. Jody Harris and Pat Place on guitars.

  • THEY PLAYED TOGETHER THAT RECENTLY!?

  • "DAMM! ... and would be Pat Place back back there,.. idn't it??!! "Brilliant!!"

  • Awesome! I heard The Contortionists on WFMU this morning....Great recording from the early 80's

  • contortions

  • holy cow - it's Jody Harris!
