that poor poor woman i mean that must off been fucking HORRIBLE!!!! I mean how horrible must it be to get your leg riped off just think about the horror that lady must have been feeling a A BIG FUCKIN SHARKS RIPS HER LEG OFF that is why life is so scary and filled with risks we should think how lucky we are to not get our fucking legs and parts off our bodys riped off!

In other words, many different kinds of sharks have occasion to feed on humans as the opportunity appoints and their hunger directs- even those not known as "man-eaters" (e.g., Silky sharks feeding on humans after the USS Indianapolis sank). It is a function of the shark's ecological niche. Asserting that "if they really wanted to eat us they would do it more often" disregards the fact the dangerous sharks are generalist feeders- including White sharks. Google Lloyd Skinner- he will attest.

this video is not the full video.. I saw on Discovery Channel or whatever that the shark bit her the first time(what is captured here) then the camera man buggged out.. But what happens next is the little boat goes to pull her out of the water and the shark goes back at her again and its like a tug of war between the people on the boat and the shark(You can hear men screaming "PULL!" and the woman's bloodcurdling screams)and the leg comes off

What's unfortunate is that it looks like an exploratory bite on the sharks part. If it was a full attack it would've struck from below, instead it was curious and wanted to 'inspect' her. Also might have been territorial

Would the shark had attacked eitherway ? Who knows...maybe not.

But if you startle a shark you are for sure asking it to react aggresively.

You are too much. The shark did NOT attack and consume the human's leg because the "dumbass" in the boat "startled" the shark with the stick. White sharks in the open ocean will often consume prey items (e.g., Petrel birds) that they typically do not attack when better prey is available. This human was no exception. The chances of running into a White shark in this part of the ocean was actually slim, so your suggestion that the Captain/students were "stupid" is equally inapt.

Either u have no geographical or gw shark knowledge or both.

But even that aside, something being a 'slim' chance does not justify the lack of care or precautions from the students & crewmembers. It's the same reason why u put your seatbelt on in airplanes, because when needed it could save your life. Same thing about sonar...same thing about using your common sence...

Anyway, there are risks of shark attack in every major sea. What of it? But it is not the same as swimming alone at night; swimming at rivermouths; swimming with a cut or bleeding fish; swimming around prey that sharks "typically" eat. A boat using sonar for shark attack prevention? Say what

As far their cognitive abilities are concerned, the size of their brain is relevant in what specific sense? Are you suggesting they are too "stupid" to differentiate between a human and other marine life? That is unfounded. Actually, this White shark was migrating through the open ocean and was attracted to the commotion. A known man-eater will realize a feeding opportunity at a human being's expense. However, definitely not shark infested waters, e.g., the Red Triangle.
