  • ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREAT FAMILY BANDS IN BLUEGRASS MUSIC EVER!

  • crap they're so good!!

  • that is one band that left On Top of their game!

  • Cia Cherryholmes crosses over and becomes the next big female pop vocalist. Solo she can break out..Tough to do as a country singer: even tougher to make the jump from Bluegrass. It says here that she will suceed. Not as pure a vocalist as Shania but just as probable.

  • Folks, I just got an email this morning informing me that the Cherryholmes family is retiring. :(

They are in Troy, NC this weekend, 1/23/11 and that is their next to last show in NC. If you get a chance to see them this year on their farewell tour, please do so as this family has the best live act in the industry. They will be missed and its a terrible loss to the Bluegrass community. Good luck to the 'First Family of Bluegrass music' the Cherryholmes.

  • @5XChamps2 I just saw what you said is true. I was really suprised, their nominated for a Grammy again this year

  • @catboxcatboxcatbox

Its awful catbox. Im still grieving about it today. :(

  • @5XChamps2 - They're playing in Oklahoma City the 28th and 29th, i haven't heard they were retiring..?

  • @amylh322

Go to their website and you can read their farewell letter. That wil lbe one awesome show,. That talked about it last weekend. They will play with an orchestra at that show. It should be a great event.

Trust me I wish is wasnt true as 5X is their absolute biggest fan ever and it stills breaks my heart that they are moving on.

  • @5XChamps2 - Oh my goodness! Well, this is good to know, i will make a better effort to get tickets and go this weekend. They are just such a breath of fresh air! Compared to the stuff out there - this music is just the real deal. And yes, they will be with our wonderful Philharmonic. Thank you so much for the response!!

  • how can you dislike this??:S

  • found a new favorite...thx

  • this is real American music

  • wow i was lookin for sumthing else and clickd this vid now im a fan love it

  • @johnnyfds1 You like this? Check out Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper. Cleveland is THE BEST fiddler ever ever ever

  • with talent as great as this, how does taylor swift get famous instead?

  • @tester083 she is soo awesome !! allison n her sound like angels from heaven. there voice makes u feel there pain as if it was ur own

  • This group is super! I met them at the IBMA, they are nice folks too!

  • Can anyone tell me what the instrument is called, that is Ukelele like with more string?

  • @linzscott mandolin?

  • My heart and mind are captured, her voice and the instruments are perfect togeher

  • GREAT VOICE! not completely controlled, though

i LOVE cherryholmes, theres a few players that shine through, and they make GREAT songs

  • cherryholme is great leave it at that.. there is enough negative in this decaying world, without attacking from within....

  • Just saw them at Poway, CA. I think Cia has the vocal talent to make a go of it on her own. I'm sure there would be family resistance, but I truly think the only ceiling she has is the one she creates.

  • Why would she want to? she has a very talented family behind her there's not a ton of players that are much better than her family is anyway.

  • I understand that. However, I would think it would be tough to limit your primary musical commitment to playing with your family. The road is difficult and being only with your family would probably create many problems in the long run. I would think she would want to see what she could do on her own. (All the kids actually..)

  • Sorry but I hope this would never ever happen. The Family as a musical group formed as a reaction to tragedy and a need to get closer to one another, it's working and it shows.

  • omg...i saw them at UCLA today too...i really liked their music....

  • I was like you at one time alfred! A punk kid who had no clue what real music was! Besides you go to ucla all the leftovers who couldnt get in at USC!

  • Comment removed

  • for 22alfred

  • @22alfred The teacher asked for the 1 to 5 scale because UCLA students have trouble counting past 5 - and almost everyone got as high as 1 or 2. Cherryholmes is great...now dude go back to sleep!

  • Amazing good bluegrass

  • dude they're all about mxl mics.lol

  • I saw Cherryholmes live in Summersville, WV, in 2005. If you haven't seen them, put it on the list of things you must do.

  • ohh it is believe me =) <3

  • How the hell does Cia play such syncopated back up to her own vocals? Crazy.

  • When you look like she does it don't matter!

  • Amazing

  • cherryholmes, del McCoury band, ricky skaggs & kentuky thunder, alison krauss & union station and younder mountain string band would be my fucking dream show. I could then die a happy man hehe

  • Check out the show at Pocono Raceway in August -- I am seriously considering making the long trip from Tenn. even though it's a track I don't enjoy so much ... here's the lineup: Ricky Skaggs, Steep Canyon Rangers, Charlie Sizemore Band, Dailey & Vincent, Del McCoury Band, Cherryholmes, Blue Highway and SteelDrivers.

  • good Lord i think im in love again....

  • love this song so much cherryholmes is the best bluegrass band

  • To perform at such a venue

    would be an absolute HONOR!

That was one amazing video shoot-

  • 我好鍾意,love them^^

  • Ihr seit einfach die besten kann einfach nicht genug fon euch kriegen

  • they are simply the best!

  • I have all four of their albums, and the progression in the quality of their song is awsome. Their confidence and talent grows and shows with each LP. I hope they come to the Pacific Northwest for a concert. They are one of the finest traditional Bluegrass bands out perfoming today.

  • I love you!

  • I think im in love Cia your the best young dern banjer picker out there.

  • Saw them at the Opry...

    OMG they rocked!!

  • anyone know of more uploads with the band on this stage? the a/v here is the best on the tube

  • Cherry Holmes rocks; this is my first time seeing the band and to think she'd be tucked in amidst Tom's great Scotish tunes! Thanks and blessings, kevin

  • I saw them 1/3/09 in Troy, NC - I've seen a lot of bluegrass bands in my day, but these folks are by far the best. They put on an excellent show and were all very friendly.

  • really? i've heard that before but i personally have never found them to be that way. a little less talkative than most entertainers maybe. but i guess with the amount of dates they do in a year the stress gets to them sometimes.

  • ive met them all and they weren't rude..they were rude to the sound guy but he was a lazy idiot anyway and made his assistant do everything.

no they all talked to me and others and were polite cia even made conversation!:)

  • I agree 100%!

  • two words: twin fiddles!

  • They are great and so talented! I always get a little star struck when I see them live and get to talk to them...they're just that good.

  • i think we are like the top cherryholmes fan you and me!

  • i think we are too! haha but scruggspicker is up there with us. have you checked out his new videos of their concert in WV? they're awesome.

  • I saw them at the grandole Opry and They were the best!

  • Missed them at celtic connections, dissapointed but caught the packway handle band. Superb!!!!!

  • I just saw them at Wheatland Music Festival and they blew me away! Cia's voice is so pure and powerful...one stage of great musical talent! Thanks for the clip.

  • Not only was that an awesome performance, but to be able achieve that quality in a live performance is amazing! 5 stars to the entire production crew, but the sound crew really stands out on this one.

  • crazy good huh?

  • Love the song.

    Voted a definate 5!

  • No one else sings like Cia..she's fantastic

  • hat's what i been saying but you aint seen nuthin to you seen em live!

  • I saw them live this past February...they were awesome!

  • well high five man! seeing them and meeting them was the best day of my life!

  • Love her singing! She's the best!!!!!!

  • wow there really good!!! Cia's voice is amazing

  • glad we finally see a video from them with decent sound system, those bluegrass festivals must be fun to attned, but there is som much disruption from the crowd and being outside that it doesn't sound good on video, however, this one does.

  • What an awesome, haunting voice. Great song as well. Im amazed at this family. Wish I could be a part!

  • They have gotta be one of the bestest!

  • can't wait to see this family at camridge folk festival this year. definitely the discovery of the decade for me. please come to glasgow in scotland sooooooon. love ye

  • This song is my favorite. Molly Kate is a great songwriter, just like her sister.

  • They're so awesome

  • Fantastic!!! was there...and they gave a brilliant performance...especially Cia! ; )
