Hello Yuan and thank you. On Dilip's demand, the song was to be sung by Talat Mahmood. Shankar, the composer had already eyed Mukesh for it. Dilip insisted, Shankar threatened to cancel the song. Dilip lost and the song was a hit. I believe, this song was taken from C. Ramchandra's "Dekh hamein awaaz na dena, o bedard zamane" film Amardeep 1957.

It is indeed the only song sung by Mukesh for DIlip Kumar for SJ. There is a story to this - Dilip wanted & Shanker wanted Talat - evidently they tossed and history was made :). There is a lovely article on this by Raju Bharatan. The Dilip-SJ combination just spanned 3 movies from memory - Shikast, Daag and Yahudi. Songs in Shikast were all by Talat, Hemant (the classic Hum kathputli...) and Rafi, Daag was Talat all the way.
