@lonelykiller68 Yeah but on the flip side, Ace really felt forced in there when it wasn't a filler episode. and after he died, the Straw Hats don't acknowledge the days they traveled with him, which could be considered a plot hole for anyone who doesn't know that in the canon he only briefly met them. I agree to an extent though, Ace's life as a character was short-lived, as his only real purpose in the story was to die and make Luffy a stronger pirate.. so maybe the filler did help. -shrug-

Alot of people are questioning about the smile that Ace gave Sanji and what he keeps giving to the rest of the crew.

I think its because he knows more and more that his little brother is in good hands. His crew looks after him and he them. The fact that Sanji denied his help shows Sanji's independence slightly. It shows to Ace what an amazing crew they are and despite their difficulties, great independence and freedom, they're not going to backstab Luffy. Or something.
