  • The producer of this video has continued the teachings of Willie Lynch. He has made it a point to call these people black, and from the poorest neighborhoods. The media continue to make blacks somehow less. But, if this journalist, had done his research he would have discovered that Brazilians are 98% mixed. And, there mixture color could be dark to light, straight to curly hair. Some of the 2% comes from somewhere else. There is no color but a class system that rules the country. Shame.

  • The level of racism in Brazil is so high that we have to ask to the black people stop to be racist ... see watch?v=CMOnetIE0Vg ... the most famous black brazilian men are married a white woman. ... but the white ones never married a black lady....

is it a miscegenation or a whitening ????

  • There aint no AFRO - BRAZILIANS...there are BRAZILIANS

And we welcome Mr. Obama, his family and the hole wide world in our country

  • black power we are commin up from the bottum

  • Oh you degenerate African Americans crying and bitching all the time bout' not being equal and all. Racism's over and done with. You had your fun, made your fuss, got your attention like a desperate child. Now get back to the cotton fields, yeh? White folk, teach your children to look out for the brutal, savage, rapist tendencies of the shit skins.

And niggers, while you're at it...call me "master" .

Spread the message! Put the niggers where they belong- on the end of a nice long rope.

  • niggers ? rope ? please stop you gonna make us cry i cannot believe you actually took the time to watch a video about black people and comment about , that`s simply expressing how sad your life must be , my friend in a couple of year your miserable race will disappear , natives of America will claim back their country , its already happening with immigration in Europe you are in way of extinction so enjoy , your comment just show how insecure you are , today a black president , what`s next lol

  • respect to all people of all colors.. all religions.. all classes

  • Great video! I hope president Obabma continues to inspire children all around the world.

  • Obama é a mesma merda que o Bush. Manteve a mesma política externa.

  • God bless Obama and brazil home of the african slaves come home brothers and sisters

  • @ani1616 what?? Brazil home o the african slaves?

  • Imagine Africa colonized Europe and took millions of white slaves to the USA. Imagine blacks oppressed the white race for more than 300 years and then from nowhere, a slim white guy stands up and preaches change... and becomes the first white president, after 43 black presidents. Don't you think we would be seeing youtube-video's of whites celebrating this historic event, in a distant poor Europe? I'm trying to say that it's obvious Africans celebrate Obama's victory. Let them feel proud.

  • amen

  • @Djonasz one must always remember that it was white america, the white america who would never dream of electing a black man say five to ten yrs before the 2004 election who came thru for him on the grass roots level.. infact they where rooting for him long before black america came on board pre the iowa cacus... before that , black americans were very cynical and did not believe he stood a cat in hells chance of getting there..

  • why did it cut off?

  • Why would the president of USA matter in Salvador?

  • Some Blacks think he is some kind of wizard and that he could solve all the problems of all Blacks in the world within a second.

  • I think you're just thinking blacks are superstitious, because you think they are not human beings, racist

  • the first person interviewed resumed perfectly why black people are happy that a black person is president of the usa!Listen to what he said!! black people do not expect obama to solve their problems with his magic wand!!!

  • Yet they expect him to rule over them, and not let them have independent political voice

  • I'm from Chicago and I'm really proud of Obama. I think he will do good things for the US and abroad and it is interesting to see the reaction world-wide.

  • By the way, I was joking, but not really. I am really not a fan of Jesse Jackson at all. For things like saying Obama "doesn't act black" and is therefore isn't "black enough." infuriating... so, F it. I hate Jesse Jackson. Hate him... AND NOT BECAUSE HE'S BLACK. (Because of what he does to people) ugh! I don't care what he does with Rainbow/PUSH, if he can help people good. If he can't, hopefully he stops instigating hate at least.

  • yeah, Obama also has a mix Indonesian sister. So yeah diversity is the best. It shows that anybody can make it. When I say anybody, I'm referring to race.

  • I see some ugly words, won't read them. Salvador, Bahia Brasil was the portal for slavery of many more africans than the U.S. That last interview is in the Pelourinho, the auction block, and whipping post. Poverty and racism is stunning in Brasil, and like here, it will still take generations to eradicate. The fortitude, loving generosity, and grace of the Bahianos is humbling. If the whole world could hear the joy in the celebration there, love and compassion might be popular again. valeu!

  • George Bush was surprised that Brazil has black people.

    I'm not kidding.

  • well hes an idiot blacks are everywhere!!

  • Hahaha. That was funny. You fucking idiot.

  • I voted for McCain

  • well if ur not in the military and not ready to fight 4 the rest of ya life then fuck u!!

  • id be willing to defend my country for a thousand years

  • was the interview cut off!?

  • Hopefully the Brazilian government gets a hint and sees that race shouldn't be an issue, greatness can come from these Brazilians if only an education would be given to them.

    Thanks AlJazeera for covering this!

  • Obama got so much weight on his shoulders. the world expects so much from him. helping, giving green cards out, no more war, etc. every country wants help now since Obama won..... and usa needs help too

  • people do not realise that obama's victory is a real boost of self confidence in black consciousness!!

  • Sugarpuddin - Did you see Jesse crying during the inauguration? I think by the end he was thrilled to see Obama win. Sure he wished Obama was more of an advocate for African Americans, but Obama was running for President of the US, not the NAACP. Imo, Obama's right that the best way to move the ball on issues important to African Americans is to link them with causes that are important to all Americans (education, health care, etc.)

  • Jesse Jackson was crying at the acceptance speech (inauguration is in January) because he realized he's going to have to stop playing the race card for everything.

  • That's a funny retort. But think back on the span of Jackson's life, from attending segregated schools, through his days at Martin Luther King's side, through his own Presidential campaign. He's seen our country come a long way and Obama's election is a pretty big milestone. Btw, I don't think Rainbow/PUSH is going away anytime soon.

  • (rated less than "I voted for McCain"?!) I wasn't commenting on race/Obama/Martin Luther King/organizations, but Jesse Jackson himself and his brand of racism... and how what he is doing is hurting more than helping because he draws a clear line between races and minority groups and draws attention to THAT more than equality. True "equality" is not about first dividing people up into minority groups and giving them "their" cause. It prolongs "us" vs. "them" mentality at the root of prejudice.

  • Cob - how now will Jesse make his (extortion) money?

  • And that's sad

Why didn't they already have self-confidence?

I keep seeing on tv or hearing on radio shows about how black people can improve now - and need to do better, since Obama won.

What stopped them from being better before?

  • I do not think that they didnt have self-confidence before, I guess they tried and made efforts to realise their objective but because in this world we live with people who hate on eachother, who envy other and who always try to put you down because of your background, I guess it becomes a difficulty for them to make their goals happen.

  • *To:ImNotRacistImBias*

In addition to what you said about hearing on radio about how blacks can improve now, I dont think this was said only for blacks but also for other people from other countries who are a minority in the U.S. The president's position in the U.S is one of the highest position... and I'd never think that now it'd be occupy by Obama because of severalstereotypes that people still have in 08. But hey,I guess the world is changing and a lot of people prefer it this way.

  • If you're parents and/or their parents were born into a world where they weren't given the same rights and opportunities as their fellow Americans, and as a result were raised, lived, and gave birth to children into poverty, I'd understand why you might not understand. But you might say, "Well it happened so long ago they should get over it." But if you lived through such experiences or loved someone who did you might understand. It's like being born with a handicap of sorts, however intangible.

  • Dear sister, i understand what you are saying but as a black person, how would you feel if :

-On a religious point of view you were considered as the product of a curse?

-"scientists" were asserting that black people had a lesser intelligence?

-A bit less than 70 years ago black people as a whole couldn't vote?

How would you feel about yourself? The role of president of US is portrayed as the most powerful and today is a black person!!

  • AlJazeera does a excellent job on reporting world news. I Love seeing black Brazilians!

  • Great, but where is the rest of the report?
