The The Free State Army are still at War with the IRA but just not openly, the Irish Army have one of the best trained Army in Counter Terrorist Group in Europe.
I think their Special Forces unit was listed as the third best in the world, but I'm not certain. They're also using one of the best assault rifles, the Steyr AUG.
