  • Love that TVS logo at the end thanks.

  • Love that TVS logo at the end thanks.

  • Hats off for this Simon, thanks!

  • thats right - tvam had a mid break where it went away for roland rat and then came back as the lesuire part of the show...luved roland rat :P

  • I miss TV-AM alot.

  • TV-am was the best good old tory government screwed it up like they have done with railways and coal mines labour are no better bring back TV-am

  • TV-am was the best, I used to watch it every morning at some point before going off to school. Roland Rat was it's saviour but many people contributed to make it a success. It was a shame when they lost out to GMTV as I felt it was at it's peak. Mike Morris and Lorraine Kelly were fantastic. TV-am... Gone but not forgotten.

  • lovely :)

  • This is a lovely video. I used to watch TV-am as a child. I always dreamed of going on Wackaday. I used to love Timmy Mallett.

  • dont forget kevin and roland !!! rat-fans :P

  • A very professional job, simonipswich. Whatever happened to Wincey Willis?

  • She is now a writer, public speaker and conservationist, and presents a weekly show on BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire.

  • I enjoyed that one, although I was only a nipper, loved Wackaday and remember the crew and program in general, at lot of good stuff went in 93, like TV-AM, TVS and Central, its never been the same since. All my mates think the TV back then was pure gold compared to the mundane reality shows of today.

  • Yes amazing to think that 15 years ago we lost TV-am, Thames, TVS, TSW and Oracle Teletext. Central didn't disappear but sadly Carlton ruined the Midlands station in 1994 when became the major shareholder; closed Broad Street down and moved to a small complex in Gas Street, Birmingham. The former ATV Studios/Central House is in the process of being demolished as I write!

  • Yes I went passed in November on a shopping trip with my girlfriend and had a look round, looked a bit sad and ready to be torn down :(

  • has any one got a full program of tv-am or know where i can download it. please can any one help been looking every where for one but cant find it, it doesnt matter which one as long as it starts from opening music to end credits. ;-)

  • I used to thoroughly enjoy TV-am. Nice company whilst I had a mug of tea and some cornflakes before staggering off to work!

  • brought back lots of memories LOVED THE CLIP

  • hows it going can you tell me how Thatcher ruined TV am, thanks.

  • The loss of the licence was down to the then Conservative Government turning the ITV franchises in an auction. TV-am bid something like £14.5m whereas GMTV bid a stupid amount of around £34m!

  • I dont think that she caused it intentionaly. She more than anybody was sadened by the outcome!

  • She was indeed sadened by the outcome, but it was her Conservative Government at the time that created the franchise auctions. It was the greed of the Government at the time that caused the loss of 4 franchises.

  • well

she said once that Television is a last resort to entertainment

  • The best part of tv-am was Roland Rat he was last seen driving his pink ford popular down the sea front at Weston-super-mare

  • Maybe Roland could bring some sence of serious and honest reporting to BBC breakfast.

  • God damn, back in the day when TV was good. Can't recreate it today

  • Ahhhh memories

  • its a weird twist that tv-am became (A)MTV

  • Wasn't 'Fun In The Sun' on TV-Am?

  • Ahh, great times. TV-am was great! I loved WAC-A-DAY! I don't care who slags it off - it was ace!

GMTV = Utter Rubbish, always has been, always will be. They even had to end up coping off TV-am just try and get the viewers! Didn't work with me!

  • very true but still watch lorrine kelly to gmtv they need to get rid of ben shepard idoit !

  • Wow... Great Memories! Absolute classic TV, which included the Wake Awake Club, WAC-A-DAY, Roland Rat (Superstar - yeahhh, rat fans) and more.

Bit of trivia... the reason TV-am went off air at 9.25am every day was because the switching over to the local tv stations was done manually (I think at the London TV Centre or within the IBA). A 5 minute gap had to be allowed so this could be done in time for the local network start up of 9.30am.

  • didn't know that !

  • God, David Frost was so boring! He's even more boring now though. I dont know how he ever got on TV. I remember seeing the cushions (or pillow) on the windowsill behind the couch in the tv-am studio and wondering if someone sleeps there overnight.

  • Did you work for it Simon? Sounds like David frost is drunk when they first come to him!

  • I was born on it's second birthday! 1st February 1985

  • cool
