  • This one gives me the strength to carry on and just fucking go for it. Peace.

  • Both Tori And PJ are talented yet are ladies with different styles. They should not be compared >=\

Anyways, this song is probably my favorite off Rid Of Me :)

  • why is charlie sheen up there?

  • There can only be one ......and that one is Polly Jean Harvey.

  • So attractive, so brilliant.

  • ALL women should be preferred as natural and not adhere so innocuously to the 'polished' mainstream-but wild ,free, abhorrently magnificent as SHE is.

  • I love the final "I missed him!"

  • the guy sittind down is only making stupid noise they should beat him up

  • @machacoification LOL!!! Oh geee! LOOOL!!!........... Get back to your pond immediately !!

  • @marxman00 this song doesn t need of any stupid sound... i never left my pound I have internet here and can very easly watch youbute without any probs...you should pop in one day, it smells of shit but after few months you ll call it fresh air... it s ok don t be upset about my comment about that stupid sound...you don t understand

  • I got to go listen to Rid of Me

  • @MrViolentlyHappy thnx!!!

  • I love the sound of that little instrument played by the man on the left of Pj!!! Does anyboby know, how it is called?

  • a song from what some might describe as her 'howling at the moon' period, but it is one of the most religious pop songs you are ever likely to hear, figuring her out was never as easy as the media wanted you to believe

  • I would marry her

  • Is that John Parish on bass?

  • yes, that's him

  • Yep!

  • John that steals identitys.. Maybee.. ;o)

  • la verdad que muy genial.

  • Loads of live PJ DVDs for sale on iOffer right now! Cheers.

  • Beautiful song, wish i was there.

there was a lot of good bands at that festival

  • this is my favorite p j song...english text are very difficult to understand if i don't read the lyrics....eglish peaole understand all english lyrics songs??

  • Not always, no.

  • my all time favorite p.j. song.

  • mine too!

  • I want to marry her!

  • who wouldn't? ;)

  • She needs to get those vocal chords insured. xx

  • <3 <3

  • she's so simplistic, yet so complex

  • I'm always amazed that that huge voice comes out of such a tiny person. She is incredible.

  • beautiful bass guitars.

  • One of the great songs of religious doubt, performed beautifully.

  • This is one of her weirdest songs. I guess this is like her psychotic view of god or something.

  • How do you interpret that?

    +

  • Mary is a mother of Jesus, and PJ sings as she is Mary Magdoline, it's simple if you will read the lyrics carefully

  • your religious connotation proves to be a tenuous interpretation.

  • It's just a theory and it works for me, nothing to talk about, really

  • domestic violence

  • LOL that's hilarious

  • amazing

  • Her amazing and distinct voice; her amazing song writing and composition skills; her amazing lyrics; her amazing creativity.

    Her beauty is a plus.

16 years later, all of her work (old, new, studio, and live) still gives goosebumps and i am still in awe.

    5*

  • PJ Harvey HOTT!! also..nice hair

  • Has she ever played 'Rub Till It Bleeds' live? I love that song?! This great, love it :D

  • Your an idiot...

  • you have tenacious D as your favourites, enough said.

  • you cant even spell FAVORITES when its spelled out for you at the top of the page. haha. retard.

  • You truly are an idiot. English spelling is favourites. American misses out things like the 'u'.

  • you fucking moron.

  • god i love her early stuff she is an amazing women this is the first song i heard her sing and i cried. I don't think anything ever made me feel so sad. she is a manipulator of song and emotion i love her. But when i hard white chalk I was really disappointed it sounded like she ate Tori Amos, its not bad but i love her rough jagged voice

  • when i first got rid of me in high school, i remember listening to it through and getting to the part in this song where she yells "HAH!" and thinking "yes!"

  • such a lovely song

  • AMAZING...its the first time i hear this song in a live version..

  • ahhhh, after i White Chalk i have to go back to Rid of Me for some old school Polly

  • And 'Memphis' is clearly Polly Jean's tribute to Jeff Buckley.

  • this may have been dedicated to jeff buckley at this concert but the song came out on rid of me in 93 i think and jeff buckley died in 97

  • Did anyone know this song is PJ's tribute to Jeff Buckley?

  • LOVE IT!!!!!

  • i love this song! ..

  • Isn't it funny how 'gender' never comes into the equation of anyone's opinion of a male singer/songwriter, but when it's a woman, it's suddenly all about 'she's a woman', and how she compares with all the 'other women' out there in the music world. How dare you! Gender has NOTHING to do with talent or ability.

  • Tori thinks she's all deep and dark and what-not, but I really don't see anything beyond the surface with her. another "better-than-average" but still boring songstress that fits neatly into a box as to what a "girl musician" should be.. Polly on the other hand defies classification, she's a gender disrupter, and all-around better writer imo.. anyway, good clip!

  • Tori Amos is infinitely more literate, although the thematic elements of her work become more difficult to access as her work progressed. If you cannot pursue the webs within the webs then that is your problem, not the artist's. Polly is great, just different. Her writing is more visceral at times, and certainly more tactile, but she also drains a lot of themes (infanticide for example) whereas Tori seems to cover more ground. Great artists, and they appreciate each other as well which is great.

  • Comment removed

  • @olyoxenfree Tori doesn't have enough respect for her audience to communicate, she always struck me as very junior high being intentionally obscure and hoping it would be mistaken for genius (or assuming it would), with the exception here and there where she allows her truth to come through and really hit the bullseye

  • as always...amazing.

    nice haircut too :)

  • why every women can't still suprend me like she does

  • Isn't it funny how 'gender' never comes into the equation of anyone's opinion of a male singer/songwriter, but when it's a woman, it's suddenly all about 'she's a woman', and how she compares with all the 'other women' out there in the music world. How dare you! Gender has NOTHING to do with talent or ability. (And I'd love to know what 'suprend' means.)

  • isn't it funny how people who pontificate usually do it twice.

  • I was not 'pontificating', merely stating an annoying fact.

  • well there aren't nearly as many women in rock. it's the same thing as if a man is a stay at home dad - he will be talked about because he's a minority.

  • I've been a fanatical fan since Dry and I think that White chalk is just completely amazing. Spine tingling. Pj gets right under my skin like some sort of invasive ghost on the new record.

  • I can´t hardly wait for the release of the new Polly´s album, and I´m sure that White Chalk it´s gonna be the best record of the year, by far...

  • What I'z saying is that both are great, there is no way to compare them. This is been a great year to music, all the great ones are make awesome records and I'm sure that Polly will not disappoint like she never did... And yes, it's possible to like Polly and Tori at the same time.

  • I LOVE POLLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I enjoy both, besides Björk and Norah Jones that put out some great new records too

  • Tori Amos doesn't suck.

  • @CasinoNight Tori Amos is the epitome of fucking stagnation. Everything she has ever done is so boring and uninspired. I absolutely despise her..I don't see the fascination at all. She's at best a very pale Kate Bush knock off...or would that be more Elton John in drag? Anyway, for the love of god stop comparing the two. Polly should not have to be mentioned in the same sentence as her. Enough!

  • @anodreams Also, have I ever mentioned how rank I think Amos's voice is? It is so flimsy and affected. Especially the way she ennunciates words! Good God!

  • this is pretty, but i prefer tori amos

  • That seems like a strange thing to say, ok, you might enjoy Tori Amos more than PJ Harvey, but are you really trying to compare the two?

  • The best version of this song was in the 98 tour (The Black Session)

  • I've seen video of every tour she has done. This by far is my favorite! The look, the sound, the band! Still waiting for her to get back to this. Maybe she could team up with John Parish again! That would be to cooool

  • well, word has it that Parish is contributing to her next album, as well as the keyboard player, Eric Drew Feldman, both of whom have been absent for a while. John especially, he hadn't contributed to either of the last two albums.

  • bruttissimo il video e la song è brutterrima u.u

  • i prefer her normal hair..curly with a ponytail -.-

  • PJ live on stage is perfection.

  • Nooh! I don´t believe you. She´s is not that kind of girl. Are you really boring, why is that?

    P.J. is a Queen.

  • She looks so cool and natural here compared to her straight haired whore look which is so posey and boring....

  • so cool

    its amazin

  • PJ Harvey for president!!

  • brutal

  • SO hot

  • She's so fuckin good!!! Will somebody tell me why so many of her posts have the comments and ratings disabled.

  • This is better than the album version

    Fuck pj is the best

  • I concur. It's amazing, isn't it? Rid of Me is still my favorite album of hers, by far.

  • what are you talking about? her hair rocks, as does the whole woman. mesmerizing. seductive. sexy. gives me shivers.

  • i think that this version w/ the lap steel is almost better than the record version.

    Amazing stuff.

  • how she can sing that good live? that is unnatural.. her voice is maybe better than on studio record!

  • this really tests ur limits of whether u can still love somebody even when that -body has a bad hair day :)) if this answer would be no in my case it would be my bad..she's definetly lovable:)

  • que rica flaca es un hembron

  • i know i love her

  • I...I think I love her

  • One sultry chickadee.

  • Ms. Harvey is looking as succulent as ever here. Great performance too.

  • except for her hair. whatever then, she still looks hot and is really awesome.

  • Does anyone have the rest of this concert as mentioned by kikikiokioli. if so please post them

  • i will do so !

  • Superb. Love it. Strong coffee. Glorious. Impressive.

  • Glorious. Love. Impressive. Gently. Absolutely sensation.

  • yea, I adore this song and performance. The whole 98 Bizarre Fest video actually. The audio fidelity on youtube really diminishes my enjoyment of this. Or maybe it's just that this bootlegged dvd version of the performance isn't so great. Sounds much better on my copy.

Anyway, my other particular faves from this performance are Electric Light, Snake, and that part in Joy when the music drops out and she screams 'NO HOPE FOR JOY!!!' in between the unrelenting hammering of guitars.

  • not sure what I was complaining about back then.. this sounds fine. I'm a dork.

  • Yeah!!

  • Damn right!

  • One of my favorite songs off of Rid of Me. What a bare and beautiful performance.

  • agree. hard to pick a favorite though...the whole CD is stunning
