hmm i think happened same what to me when i was playing sonic unleashed then after goal ring i took disk from ps2 then everything disappeared but rings and enemies and dash panels still was there :D

I think what happened is that yer wii might of misread the disc, when it got to the point where it was suppoed to load that part of the level.
