If such a device, one that is efficient too, exists, it ain't avaible for a 'average' person. (read: not a millionaire), and such a preson would have better hardware
i can't find how it can be proven true or false in a simple video.
I mean, he could be watching a video of someone else moving around, or he could be controlling a game with his brainwaves and the receivers interpret the different waves as commands for movement., I just can't tell on an internet video.
I'm not sure if this is an implant, but if you do want to get an implanted brain-computer interface, it's not that painful. You just need to perform daily maintenance (it is an implant after all), but the quality is much much better (or will be). I can't wait :D
Ahh Lets keep it to computer apps, i really dont want something recording where and what i do. That would be a marketing companies dream to grab that wireless feed. And i don't even want to think of what happens when it jumps from corporate to govt.
also what would happen if the kid was actually walking? would the device recognize this as game play? because that would be pretty cool if you could wear one around all the time and have it transmit wirelessly then if you misplaced something you could go back to the computer and see in 3D movement what you did all day and where you went and when you picked things up and put them down. Endless possibilities for game play and real life!
That kid sucks at using his brain haha, just kidding! this is incredible I hope its real. If it is this is a huge step towards the future. Playstation 9 here we come!
why are hakf of the comments on here written by assholes. this is revolutionary, my dad theorized a robotic arm controled by neural impulses in the 1960's his science teacher called a meeting with his mom and dad to tell them he thought my dad was crazy! Just recently the tech has been inagrated into many limbless people. now, we are on the edge of the virtual age.
"the singularity is near" (read it, it's very stimulating)
Considering how well this works for a prototype, I'm pretty excited to see how it develops over the next few years! I look forward to the day when I can control my character's movement in a game with my mind, leaving my hands free to do some more detailed control over his actions (like shooting or puzzle solving or whatever)
I agree, but since they can now decode our neural signals, I'm pretty sure once they refine this you'll be able to play the whole game with your mind, you won't need your hands at all. After all the current main purpose of these technologies is to help people who have lost control of their limbs.
I want one too. Just imagine the possibilities of having two free hands to do other things with at the same time. let's see: you could peel a banana without interrupting Second Life. Cereal. You could eat a mother-fucking bowl of cereal at the same time as your avatar is running around looking at the most boring and gaudy universe in the world. OH THE POTENTIAL!! Think of the new masturbatory things your free hands could do. Imagine clapping with both hands while playing!? OH MY GOD!!!
cool animation .. .. keep it up

It's not invasive. Just look at products like those from Emotiv Systems or NeuroSky!

It's real. I'm an editor at a local news station owned by NBC, and i've seen stories about this, mainly because of the potential for paraplegics.
