  • fuck you..im entitled to my opinion fuckstick

  • Shadowcat is a much better album than Ole Tarantula

Give Oslo a miss if you see it - the best song on it (Up to our nex) is on the Rachel Getting Married soundtrack

  • As much as people love to compare Syd and Robyn, I personally believe they are really very different. Two different minds, two different styles, two different human beings. Robyn is the first to admit that early on his work was heavily influenced by Syd's music, and I feel it would be difficult to deny that he has since come into his own. Very gracefully and uniquely, I might add.

I understand the ivy comparison. It's creeped its way into my life and refuses to leave.

    Not that I mind.

  • You're complaining about the guy who's done by far the most to keep Syd's spirit alive and his music introduced to new fans? The guy who has the most in common with him lyrically...ever?

    Dufus.

This song does suck though. It's one of his worst efforts.

  • if you think this guy is in barrett's class you are kidding yourself.

  • He's better. So no, I don't think he's in Barrett's class.

Opinions aside, you entirely ignored my point: Hitchcock has done more to keep Barrett's work alive and send people back to hear the originals than anyone else. Heck of a lot more than Gilmore ever did for him.

  • nahh, i used to vaguely fell the same way, but i just saw him live at the union chapell, and he was f****** GOOOD!!!!

  • robyn looks a little pasty beside his del monte shirt rig....cornish pasty

  • the only idiot is you comment is in reference to lessawford's post.

  • That's Pete Buck on guitar.

  • Terrific interview, one of his weaker songs.

  • Have to agree on the song. He's done stronger ones. The interview was intriguing as I haven't seen too many with him. Cool to see him working with Pete Buck of REM and members of Young Fresh Fellows. I hear that Andy Partridge of XTC was working on something with him.

  • His onstage patter is a lot more canned than it first seems; it only feels improvised. He's often hillarious in interviews though.

Lyrically he's tricky. Once you decode his iconography you realize he's almost always singing about *very* specific events or people from his life.

I could do without Buck frankly but given REM started as practically a Soft Boys fan club band it's nice he gets to play with his hero. He's played with REM/XTC/Fellows quite a bit over the years.

  • Is Buck into the Soft Boys

He was talking very highly of Trains in the Sundance special from last year

  • He's got this unique quality where he can make you cringe at his weirdness, laugh at his jokes, and, at times, make you get all choked up with tears because the writes some touching stuff.

  • What he said about masks was sort of profound.

  • the only idiot is you.

  • bastions of normal thought!! LOOOL!!!

  • One day, Robyn will finally ditch Linda McCartney...I mean, Sean Nelson.

  • Thanks so much for this :)

  • I saw you at Glastonbury 1987. what's the video you made with the camera just on your lips? It was really good, the friend that lent me the video took it back and I lost touch with them 17yrs ago, DEAD NUNN you know who you are.

  • i believe it's Surgery

  • That is correct, sir.

  • m'am.

  • m'lady.

  • Robyn Hitchcock, you are brilliant. Great stuff! Going WAY back, "Eye" was wonderful!

  • HEY ROBYN!

robert smith called - he wants his shirt back!

    ;)

  • Hey Inga

  • Robyn kind of answers the question:

What if John Lennon hadn't died, never formed the beatles, and hadn't met Yoko.

  • and i laughed... like i always do...

and i cried... like i cry for you...

and balloon man blew up in my hand...

  • Extremely excellent.

  • I met Robyn in St louis 10 years ago. GIVE IT TO THE SOFT BOYS!!

  • i've heard St. Louis is a cool city - do you concur?

  • fuck no. It's a dirt heep crack village. You can get crack in any gas station in town past midnight. Its fucking frightening.

  • webster's says heep is the hip of the dog-rose?
