Dave Grohl is known to mess up the lyrics of his own songs, so the fact that he forgets the lyrics on a cover is no big deal. Of course this is not better than CCR's original, but it's pretty decent. Foo Fighters is one of the few good rock bands left. If members of Led Zeppelin and Queen approve of the Foo, why can't you?

I don't know what changed since I played this video the other night, I wasn't intoxicated in any way, but when I just played it again now, I think it sounds like shit. Maybe not second half but definitely first half. That's okay though, FF are very talented anyway.

When doing a cover,the band playing it should emulate it like a carbon copy, I think it shows respect and admiration for the original band. Screw that "make it your own" shit, it isn't your own, so don't change it. Perfect example is here with the FF, look at the hair in the face, the raspy voice, the walkin back to the drummer during instrumental, if I was CCR, I would take that as a hell of a compliment. Only one who could do JF better than FF would be early Greg Allman.

I listen to a cover band because I like the original song, played like it was originally played. You may like to hear a unique version, but it has been my experience that they butcher it 90% of the time, changing pitch or tempo just for the hell of it. they use 2 different kinds of amps. a vox for the cleans and mesas for the dirtys. if they get rid of the boogies there goes alot of the foos sound.

they don´t use ac30s anymore, daves roadie said they prefer to use Mesa Roadkings with 3 channels, but i think the cleans are dry and hard, but i agree, they are a great part of foos sound, but maybe Oranges, Soldanos or other Mesa Boogies like Lonestar can be a better option.

For rhythm they´re nice, but when they do solos or play clean intros like 'the pretender' the sound is thin
