@svdlmf For fun...my statement was that they're very, very few drivers that can wring all there is out of 500 HP. That's a fact. The overkill is a horsepower war between the super cars. I never said I didn't like it.
This guy is a twit -- his opinion is a monotone of effusive shilling for Ferrari.
The California is a car Ferrari should just sell for profit and never mind the suckers that want an entry level exotic hairdresser's car.
I drove the thing at length -- it's heavy, it shifts heavily, the suspension is junk, the interior is painted silver plastic knobs, the roof is an ugly mess of exposed cables and elastic straps. Junk.
If you can't afford the 458, get a Scuderia and be in a great Ferrari.
Hi Michele. Loved your review on the California. You mentioned the navigation head unit and Jeremy Clarkson saying it looks like a Chrysler unit. Funny thing is, not only does it look like it, it actually is a Chrysler head unit. I know, because I own a comparably plebeian Dodge Avenger R/T, and it has the same exact layout.
But you are absolutely right, it works great. Easy to use, fast response times. I have to say much better than the nav units on Bentley and especially Jaguar, which is painfully slow.
The sat nav in California is the same as in some Chrysler cars, that´s right. Plus, it´s absolutely useless. but who cares, just listen to the sound and enjoy. That´s the way I do.
@Choncho661 I don't think so....this car was a blast to drive, the engine had great torque, great sound and the car overall had excellent balance. There's a place for it in the Ferrari lineup.
@Choncho661 Dont know why your comment was removed..but I agree with the V12 analogy. On the other hand...the v8's Ferrari is producing are potent and have a great powerband...the V12 isn't the only powerplant Ferrari should be tethered to.
@powersliding well whatever. Some people like it some don't. Personally I hate all ferraris. Under powered and over priced. I'd take and Aston Martin or a BMW m5 over any of the ferraris
"we have came to the conclusion/so called purist never owned a ferrari and probably never will" because they are race fans, core of ferrari. that line is just bullshit by this channel, i bet some ferrari owners cum purist did not welcome the V8 Califonia as the classic had a V12...so dont make sure a stupid statement
@TheDriveChannel I sounded like a street racer, which I used to be before having kids :D . In fact, I believe that if u drive 8 cylinder cars with more than 400hp in it then u can’t go for less than that and u will definitely ask for more, actually it’s like addiction.
Thanks for the vid, Michele. Too bad there really aren't many places in Tampa to enjoy a car like that. I lived there from 1989-2006 (still own a place in Brandon) and recall the only places to really cut loose were The Crosstown and the Gandy Bridge! Either case...too many cops!
@flowride68 Exactly...we'll have to find an industrial park and set up a short course...I know a few people with that kind of space. That Ferrari hit over 100 in the vid...that was dangerous and irresponsible. Not doing it like that again.
VERY beautiful piece of machinery, and that interior looks comfortable as all get-out! Overall, way sexy car! Thanks, Michele for taking us along on a test drive! Looking forward to more.
Good to see you outta the office. :) this car has more power than anyone ever needs. Its not a track car. But being a ferarri, you hafta have some get up. My only gripes, the lexus IS-F exhaust tips. Id ditch em in a second. And the paddle shift too. I like rowing the gears myself. I drive a semi and never tire of shifting it. Call me dumb I know. :)
I loved the review and may I suggest doing a drag race (2012 California vs 458 Italia or F430) or whatever super sport car u can get ? it will be fun , what do u think ?
where I live (Dubai), we need more than 500hp. cuz there r lots of good cars like Mercs E63, S65 (the F430 killer) and other powerful models. Ferrari California is nice and good but not in my town, we liked the FXX, Enzo, 458 Italia, 559, F430 Scuderia and the new FF from Ferrari's collection. I have infiniti FX50s which has 390hp and I am planning to buy the new 2012 Range rover supercharged 510hp in couple of months.
Thanks again for ur useful information. Can’t wait for ur next review
@TheDriveChannel Great news, please inform me whether any plans are available or I may suggest some cuz when it comes to cars this country is really full of epic cars. I would like to meet with you if u don't mind. You won't regret giving me an opportunity to show you some private car exhibitions.
@TheDriveChannel I sounded like a street racer, which I used to be before having kids :D . In fact, I believe that if u drive 8 cylinder cars with more than 400hp in them, then u can’t go for less than that and u will definitely ask for more, actually it’s like addiction.
@Smigolturbo Thanks guys...wish we could have run it on some twisting roads...the cops showed up and we had to tone it down. Funny thing though..they loved it all and have shown us a road that's usually deserted and twisty...they'll even run block for us. I have a stunning silver Viper next week and an Italia...also a Super America. Wanted to do the Viper before the new one comes out.
"....plenty of women can out drive men..." I find this statement debatable. I would say SOME women can out drive men, but not "plenty". On a more relevant and topical note, that is a very, very nice car. I have to say I'm a fan of the rowdy American muscle cars, so I'd like to see a review of the new Shelby mustang and Camaro zl1 when available.
@CanadianCalabo There are a fairly large number of women, who if they own these cars or have more thanone in the family, that can drive at very, very respectable levels. Having said that...% wise it's men hands down. Testosterone. Women obey the rules and men don't.
@EquinoxBR Workin on it...we have access to al the cars. We have to have the area to do it right. This one didn't have an area to corner and film. We're working out a deal with a small road course a few miles from here.....this is the direction we're headed.
@TheDriveChannel ...Awesome! Thats the right way! Driving around city is nice, but of course, if filmed in a proper area you can also made more tests etc.
@EquinoxBR We're working on it...these cars are just too quick to try and negotiate the city traffic....it's too dangerous. 3rd gear in that car is almost 100 MPH at full throttle.
@TheDriveChannel ...haha, here in Brazil is more difficult to see those cars and your channel is excellent way for me to "feel" the cars. Here we have the culture of little engines like almost all European/Japonese daily cars. My car for example is a 2011 Renault Symbol with 1.6 16V engine (115hp with ethanol and 112hp with gasoline). Well, my dream car is the 535hp Nissan GT-R, but would cost twice its price in US here, plus the 1,85 ratio dollar/real. Keep up the good work!
@plazmixplazmix I felt that way as well...but when you drive it...you tend to change your mind. Almost everyone has had the same reaction. It's not an Italia for sure.
My neighbor's is arriving in 2 weeks.... I live in Alabama.
