union drywallers don't suck.. i know lots of union drywallers that can work circles around non union guys and they can do it all from framing to doing t-bar to hanging board .. drywall is a rough trade and it wears on your body ...if you want any kind of life after drywall smarten up and get into a union ..more money good benefits and a pension ...beats alot of jobs out there.. and no one can take a trade away from you..
listen union boy, you're right, anyone who does construction for a living, isnt a pussy. but you do construction, like a femaile engineer does construction. piece work ftw....pussys join the union, men work by the foot. sink or swim girls, and i guess we know which you are.
you can't really compare the 2 both union and piece work have there ups and downs i notice pieceworkers usually do mainly straight walls with 10 or 12 foot sheets so they can get more sheets up faster were as union have to do more precision cuts sometimes with 10 foot sheets up a good 40 feet. and I've seen both union and pieceworkers having partners 1 to prep and put the sheet in place and 1 to screw it down.
Union's about the benefits.. we'll see how well your employer looks after you on a non union vs a union job. The truth is that there are more fatalities in the non union sector when compared with the union sector. Its a lot safer to work union, you don't have to worry about paychecks coming in on time, you get a pension instead of a 401k. Your whole family gets health coverage. As far as my limited experience goes: union drywallers tend to be faster and more efficient and make fewer mistakes.
@josef1978 thats how work should be, taking your time and not being in a hurry hanging drywall. it was all good till mexicans came and screwed the whole drywall labor. the union should take over all drywall jobsites.
@josef1978 that why ur ass is sitting at home and im happily working!!! Yes im working and all my mexican buddies drywalling, taping, painting, and doing carpentry also. Union pride!! We dont want your WHITE lazy ass working here cuz all you fuckers do is talk shit online but when it comes to being at the job site none of you guys open your fucking mouths, all you guys do is to do what the mexican foreman tells your ass to do. HAHA!!!
Standups are ALWAYS used in commercial construction. Ceilings are usually 9 feet or higher and made from T bar. This has been the norm for over 40 years.
My problem is with these dum asses saying that drywall only takes a few weeks to learn. Ya if one mexican is teaching another... I went through 4 years of apprenticeship and then finally lost my job to Jose and Rico....
Well actually i have been on commericial jobs, we only usually do stand ups if it's sound bar. We have done stand ups before, but our tapers are kind of picky and they like doing it easy, so we start from the ceiling down. laying them down.
ya u never learn everything, but u learn the basics in a few weeks and its up to the person and the way he thinks to how fast he'l pick the rest up.. the guy teaching a person can only do so much no matter how much he knows.. but all these guys.. u see them standing around. im my own boss and im on the tools 24/7 and if i saw them standing around like that they wud get it, u dont need one person to hold sheet.. then one to screw.. and throw away single shots. collated is the way^^
