  • No - we folded at the end of 1994

  • @bobjuke1

What was the reason for dissolving the band?

  • @jaykay2003

We'd been playing together for over 16 years, and had been on the road constantly touring for the last 10 of those ...

I suppose the live scene just dried up too much by 1995; and it got really too much of a fight to keep it together after that...

But don't get me wrong, we had some great times .. 'Juke' did between 180 and 220 gigs every f...ing year! - from the Montreux Jazz Festival to the Glastonbury ...

It was an amazing experience ...

  • @bobjuke1

16 years is a pretty long time. And believe me, I was visiting so many of your concerts in the Frankfurt area. Each concert was a highlight for me.

I'm a saxplayer myself and your band influenced me so much. The day you guys gave up playing was one of the sadest in my players career.

I know that Gaz is still very active in teh Merseyside area. But what are you doing? Still playing?

    Cheers

    Jay

  • @bobjuke1 - once you guys were in basel (switzerland) during carneval) in "atlantis" - the frontman asked us (a crazy carneval group) to play "the peter gun theme" together. was a great evening - i will never forget - and what's about mikey - how is mikey ?

  • @fangtango

I'm sorry but Mickey has been dead for a very long time - he died in 1991

The Atlantis during fasnacht was really one of the high spots of the year for Juke and I have very fond memories of it.

There is actually material from the Atlantis during fascnacht on this channel just search for juke atlantis

  • He was very successful - and we both did it the way we wanted to do it. Very few people can really say that.

    Bob

  • @bobjuke1 I'm glad you did it...this is music that has a reason for being called SOUL.

  • @bobjuke1 I still have this on my favs..this is music that is heart and soul.

  • Hi Bob,

What a wonderful performance, FANTASTIC, amazing chromatic harmonicaplaying, what a very good control of your breath and I like your style of playing the chromatic, lovely blues style, thanks for sharing your very beautiful playing with us, I know how difficult it is to play the chromatic in the right way, my compliments to the other musicians too ofcourse.

We wish you a blessed and beautiful Easter weekend,

Dearest greetings Chris - The Netherlands - Europe - YouTube chrismayka.

  • Thanks Chris

But in case anyone gets the wrong idea - that's Gaz Gaskell on harmonica. And that's a standard blues harp - And he's a saxophone player really .. Oh Yeah, and he also plays great guitar (that's him at the very end of this clip).... And he is an expert Salsa player and arranger - percussion and bass ...

I could go on !!! ..... He speaks four or five languages fluently .....

    :-)

    Bob (the keyboard player)

  • Oh man, this is just TOOO GOOD! Incredible harmonica work and that B3 organ voice just completes the whole vibe/mood. FIVE STARS and deserves ONE HUNDRED! Thanks Joan (ivoryticklermama) for sending my way. Right into my FAVES! MoJo

  • This reminds me when I was in my 70's band when I was playing the Hammond B3. Great sound!! 5 stars.

  • Very nice!

Sure wish I could find my X-Ray glasses from the '60s! :)

Yes, song is in the key of G, C harp in 2nd position. Smoky Greenwell does a real nice version of this song on his "Smokin' Classics" album.

Very cool song to learn and play!

    Thanks for the video!

  • nice hamoni~

  • Fantastic harping! Are you in the Key of C and do you have the tabs to the piece. Bussy.

  • i guess its the key of A

  • Sorry to be so long - I missed this posting. We played this in the key of concert G (The melody notes for 'When a man ...' are D, B, & E). Gaz plays crossed and sorry again we don't have tab
