I know it's dangerous, but i find it very effective to separate my eyelashes with the tip of a safety pin! Note that I also have a very steady hand! But I think it's way more effective than a Bobby pin which has a wide point versus the point of a needle or safety pin.

I have ALWAYS applied mascara to the tips of my lashes first - great for lengthening (Lash Stretcher by Sephora is my fav). However, contrary to your issue, my lashes are SO CURLY! OMG. I try to reverse the curl with an eyelash curler, but AS SOON as I apply the mascara, they curl right back up (like when my hair gets wet LOL!).

Nice tutorial. I WISH my lashes didn't curl straight up! lol lol

What I do is that I curl them with a spoon. Just like you, I have long but STRAIGHT lashes. :/ But the thing with the spoon really helps. It doesn't give them the "L" shape if you know what that means.
