I can think of a few setups more powerful than this. The best out of them is:

2x 2.93 GHz Intel Xeon Nehalem Processors (Basically the same as two i7)

32 GB of DDR3 RAM

GTX 285

4 1 TB HDD

You know what that setup is? It's a Mac. (I'm not saying that Macs are better, I'm saying that this mac is better than that machine.)

The 4 video cards are crap and they aren't even in SLI. Though I'm pretty sure that will change over the next year or so due to the release of OpenCL.

As for processors there are different architectures and technologies. The most popular technology right now is known as 45 nm (nanometer) The smaller a chip is the less heat it creates and the less power it needs. The Core i7 architecture is known as Nehalem which supports HyperThreading (HT). (2bcon)

HT allows two threads to run on one core at the same time, allowing each core to run as if it were two cores. So a Core i7 has 4 physical cores but because of HT it creates "Virtual Cores" so it runs as if it had 8 cores. The Mac Pro 2009 has 8 physical cores and 16 cores if you count Virtual Cores.

Over the next 6 months Intel will release two new processors that support HT one with 6 physical cores and one with 8 virtual cores. Both of these are workstation class and may head to the Mac Pro.

umm dude ur on crack the rig it self is awesome but its nowhere near the most powerful pc at the time wich was june u said gtx 295 was alrdy out so r card is not up to date and in order for that u would have to have 2 gtx 295 and u would have to have mor ram besides that is up to date
