i feel you werent qualified enough to provide adaquate info on the blade. I feel that by hte look of the blade and the add ons to it make it ideal to have in your car as a life saving tool. Prefect for breaking auto glass, prying, and cutting seat belts, but if you say you have a homie who is a fire fighter, you should have let him do the review instead
@Jesus1229 You're absolutely right. I'm not qualified at all to do the review. Its really just a showing of the blade. I guess I named it wrong. But you are totally right. I'm not qualified.
it was not meant to be rude in any way. i'm pointing out that he undersold the blade. if I would have gone based on his review only, I would have missed out on a great tool. He should have a clearer understanding of the blade, material and functions to really review. a review cannot be based on "coolness" alone. Unlike nutnfancy, he may be a douche, but when it comes to reviews, he reviews the shit outta something and lets you know exactly what you are dealing with. Be more informative is all.
You aren't qualified to review the knife because you aren't a firefighter? I didn't know that "knife review" was part of the fireman's academy.
Seriously though, just because you aren't a fireman doesn't mean you can't comment on the knife any more than you did.
People all over the internet with no experience worth noting review guns, knives, and other kit and sometimes they have good ideas or share something worthwhile.
There are always better knives out there but you cant judge a knife by just a video. For the price on the crkt website it may be over priced but can be found for $45 if they used a better steel then we would be talking.
lol butter knife that knife has more cutting power than a lot of knives because since its so think and wide it has weight so with 1 swing you could cut some ones thumb off so i wouldn't call it a butter knife
How about a review on different knife blade metals: 440C 420HC, 1095, D2, etc. if you know enough about blade materials to judge them? I like your reviews.
I've used 'em all and I have my own opinions.. but there's no really objective and fair way to compare them. There is no knife that is made with the same quality of heat treatment and blade geometry for every steel.. you compare different knives with different heat treatment and its not a fair comparison. Spyderco has a program out that sells the same skeleton style fixed blade in several steels that would be a good contender for a comparison. I can try, however... Keep tuned in :)
Anyonw know what the MAK 1 is actually designed to cut? Like, the Extracator is obviouisly for seatbelts, and ost rescue knives tend to be partially or fully serrated, or at least curved for cutting rope and cord etc, but that straight edge doesn't seem conducive to that. It looks like it's just meant to smash things, but don't firefighters carry axes (a far more appropriate tool) for that?
maybe its just for lighter weight and a more stuff in one tool (wrench, glass breaker in case ur underwater for some reason, blunted tip so u won't accidentally cut the victim) and its bigger so u can grab it better than the extractor under pressure...cuz an axe can smash and has a greater hacking power, but what if u need to cut something smaller-ish or if the axe were a little too heavy? if these reasons fail...it could be a great convo piece? xD
Thanks for this review! I always wanted to buy a Rescue Knife. The "only problem": Nowadays, a lot of knife producers are into the "rescue tool/knife market", so I guess it's not easy to determine, which tool/knife to buy.

@Jesus1229 your comment is rude and pointless, next time don't bother adding anything. Thanks for showing the blade. Looks like a great one!

What makes you assume that?

Cause it doesn't round to a sharp point so his mind can't handle the thought of it being sharp.

no offense but I feel that you were more "showing off the knife" than an actual review.

By the looks of that knife you can tactically spread butter on your toast, I'd still like to have it though.

Reminds me of a EOD breacher bar.
Sept the breacher is jsut a solid peice of steel that has 4 holes to make a custom paracord wrap on it.
I would stil get a breacher bar again if i had the choice between that and this knife.
Personal choice ^_^
Great review.
