que impecable la entrega de relevos de la ex-rda-no se porque hablan de doping-en los 41,37-de 1985-si este equipo ya estaba practicamente formado desde 1979
@idontsignin This slow mo video of her taking the baton, shows a much slimmer body build than what she built up into by Seoul; makes it really obvious that she was using some sort of performance enhancer; women just don't bulk up that much with just a weight training program and tough workouts, and without the help of something like hgh or a steroid. Just my opinion.
@idontsignin Well since the fall of GDR in 89, we now know that all track & field athletes were included in the state-wide, instituted steroid use, mainly Oral-Turinabol, a little blue tablets given by coaches, who told them the pills were vitamins, protein tablets, etc. And track & field was one of the sports the GDR govt decided would be p[art of the systematic doping. Marlies MUST have been included. Most athletes did not find out definitely until around '94.
@Parker528 i watched a programme call doping for gold on pbs which told you about the drugs taking in east germany, i think it might still be on their website, i actually feel sorry for the athletes who where taking the drugs cause they didnt have a clue what they where taking, most of the athletes where only kids when they where put on these things. but the thing is someone like marita koch denies ever being on these drugs, i dont think athletics has ever fully recovered from that time.
@idontsignin Yes, I taped that program. There are other elite GDR athletes who allege they were never; one good example is Kornelia Ender, the swimmer from Montreal in '76; only after documents came to the public from Stasi files and she was listed as one of those doped did she finally admit that for years, she was given injections without knowing what they were for. I guess it is possible Marita never received those testosterone shots, but she definitely was getting the oral turinabol pills.
@Parker528 Swimming was also included in this. Shirley Babashoff, said she noticed the change, and was called a sore loser, because she said that she believed that there were swimmers using peformance enhancers in 1976. Babashoff new from first hand knowledge and had won silver medal after silver medal to drug enhanced swimmers from the GDR.
I wonder what would happen if ashford and gohr was even in their anchor leg?

Marlies Gohr is faster than Evelyn Ashford in this relay.

@run3hours Gohr got the baton about 10m before Ashford did. I don't think it's fair to say she was faster.

That East German anchor, possibly Goehr, just flys down the straightaway; it's incredible.

Even in slow motion, it looks like their legs are moving "fast forward." Incredible.

@Parker528 The women were told what to take, and when to take it and not when to take it. They were told
it was vitamins. How sad for these women. Most have health issues, and their children also suffer from
many birth defects.
