The Cure are total professionals. The best concert (and the longest) I've ever been to since concert going back to 78. The addition of Porl was and EXCELLENT choice for the band.
And re: the handclaps, the drumming isn't bad, surely that's meant to be for the band in the monitor speakers to keep time, but some dunce soundman made it too loud?
@OISSELAtube Sorry, I miss the keys. Whether they were an original component of the bands sound or not, they quickly became an integral one. It just doesn't sound right without them in my opinion. More than the drums, that was the glaring problem to my ears.
Actually what I love about Robert Smith is that every tour he reinvents his classic songs, it gets boring when bands play their songs exactly the same for years and years and years...
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS??????????????!!!! LIKE.. IS THIS IS FOR REAL???
AND OF COURSE THE PROBLEM HERE IS NOT THE DRUMMER ¬¬
WHAT IS THE CURE WITHOUT ROGER AND PERRY!!!!
HOW DO THEY PLAY THIS KIND OF SONGS REMOVING THE PIANO PART, I MEAN.. ITS NOT JUST THE FACT THAT ROBER HAD KICKED ROGER AND PERRY OUT.. ITS THE FACT THAT HE DELATED A COMPLETE INSTRUMENT!
To say that Robert does not make relevant music anymore is pure bullshit! The industry is dead, so is hard for a record now to stand out. An album like 4:13 would have been considered a classic during the late 80's and early 90's, but now it gets lost in the itunes/rapidshare/illegal downloading world.
This has nothing to do with Jason. It has to be with Robert Smith. Saw 'The Cure' Live back in 2004, and they're a great live band, excellent performances all the concert. The problem is the new stuff. It just don't move me anymore like they did in the past. Still got my Cure Collection, some vinyls were sold in the middle of this decade, I keep buying the remastered cds, but I'm no longer excited to get new songs from them. Good Luck, cureheads
I'm sick of reading posts against Cooper. Get over it. Is not his 'technique' or his skills as a drummer. You're comparing the best albums of The Cure (with Boris), to the Non-relevant music that Robert Smith has written since 1996. Nobody cares if The Cure releases new albums anymore. Last Great Album was 'Wish'1992. Hard to say this because I still love their early work: there's not a single song since Wild Mood Swings that has the label of 'classic' or even 'remarkable'.
@aclopezestrada There's more passion and strenght at the first 45 seconds of the 'Open' intro, than the entire 4 : 13 album, my friend. You gotta deal with it.
I hate this fucking pseudo fans that complain about Jason. He's a drummer , let him be. If you don't like it then don't listen to the music. There has to be a reason why he is still Cure's Drummer. So fuck off. Jeez bunch of whinners
i´m big fan and i hate this. annoying claping or what, keyboard line from playback...this used to be live band. if you can´t play it live - don´t play it at all than!
@setoseptima what´s your point darling? they used drum-machine some 27 years ago for couple of gigs (well, I haven´t heard any of that, but if you say so..) to be hones0,t i´d prefer cure with drums from the machine to percussions+keyboards from the TAPE.
@oktekk23 The Cure - One Hundred Years (Studio Davout, Paris 1982) here you can see and hear drum machine. The point is that The Cure still IS a LIVE BAND. They use, now, some tapes in a few songs that can't sound well without it. Maybe because Porl or Robert don't want to play it live (you can see Cold from the same concert). I agree with you that the last tour don't soun like even "Festival", but not to say that The Cure is no live band... Erasure, Pet Shop Boys are playback bands!!!
Great music, I dont miss the keys if anything the rest of the band shows up more . But I wissh Rob would get over the big hair dark side stuff and just play this great music. Its not that dark ya know??
fantastic!
