yes the song originates from Lax Kw'alaams, i should know i guess lol, anywho as i said earlier in the remarks i believe i said, "great job on this song". I believe its the leader of the group who sought permission to use this song just after i gave the whole Tsimshian Nation the right to use this song. Our Group, Xbishuunts Dancers (in Terrace) use this song with great enthusiasm and pride whenever we are out sharing our story. Don Wells
I don't know how many times I have watched this video, but I never get sick of it. My people never sound so powerful when they sing. Like we are a beaten people...I hope someday we find this kind of strenth. Would be great to see more videos. It must have been so awesome to be there.
Umm maybe you should learn to read. I was talking about MY people. Not this clip. What kind of idiot would put down this clip??? I am not from Metlakatla. Not even close. I am from the Lower Mainland and when my people sing we don't sound as powerful is all I meant. What I said is a great compliment to this video. Thanks for almost making me feel bad though.
Whatever you say. Cause you seem to know it all eh. I am not into arguing on the internet. It could go on and on. You know nothing about me or my people so I will just let you think you do and that you are right and leave it at that.
Kekwasa, Im NOT arguing with you rather I just think that looking at yourself, your people or anyone else as if they were a "beaten people" is just selling them short.
While I agree that it would be nice if everyone could sing as well as the best that is just not to be expected.
(Im also troubled by the phrase "beaten people" as it may hint of an underlying personal insecurity about one's own future...)
that was awesome and a catchy song too stuck in my head that was a good size Pod Of Killerwhales too Klecko Klecko for sharing the Video coming from the Makah Rez i loved it.
I love the Tlingit Tribe, I saw the Dancers in Sitka the year or 2002 and 2003, still I want to go back and see them again!!!

Kekwasa, about your comment that went - "Like we are a beaten people"
When you think this way, what is on your mind?
Why say this about the people above in the clip?
What about them leads you to think this?

Being a poor singer does not mean you are beaten, just as being a real good singer means you must be a winner.
Singing is something that takes a bit of time to learn to do well, not everyone is good at it at the start.
So I think rather than saying your people are a "beaten people" I would go with "tone deaf", or perhaps "Musically Challenged" is more correct.

...and sometimes people just need a leader...
