I read in Bill Wyman's book "Stone Alone" that the Stones used to open for the Hollies in the early days, and that the Stones were very fond of the Hollies. An interesting and unlikely pairing, wasn't it?
@schizzie345 the stones, the beatles, the hollies, dusty springfield, freddy and the dreamers. . . the list goes on! they all played concerts and went on tour together in the early days. . . all good friends and colleagues, wow - to have been there in those great days!!!!!!
@Poopaloo55 aaaaahhhhh!!! could they all BE ANY CUTER??? i know they really didn't like this song much, (such trifle after king midas) but they always looked like they were having fun, didn't they?! ~ kc
@LadieBug357 They sure did...back then any group should be thrilled to be on Ed Sullivan...it meant you had arrived in America! They are just so adorable. It's just a cute little ditty about their wives (sweet!)
@Poopaloo55 yes, they would have been thrilled to be on Sullivan - were in fact scheduled once, but sadly never got to perform on his show :'-( this clip is actually an episode of Hollywood Palace, hosted this night by Phil Harris, who does show a remarkable resemblance here to Ed!!
@LadieBug357 It was the Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan that ensured U.S Beatlemania. Who knows if it would have changed history for the Hollies as well? I actually had no clue who that guy was (so thank you). I was just an English schoolgirl with a crush on Allan...back then I didn't know, or care, what America thought about any of our pop groups!
