Well, I'll just explain. I joined the Navy after my Basic Military Training and signed on the dotted line as an Midshipman. I commissioned as an Officer and served 6 years in the Navy but decided to have a career switch.

This is considered early release. I'm now officially a NS man. Hope this gives you a better understanding of our NS/regular service system. :P
