  • This race gave him permanent nerve damage in his hands.

  • petegem le roi de pave...2003 et tres puissant......dommage arrete....le carrieur.

  • A typical badger moment... viva la Hinault.

The greatest. Lance... look and take some notes.

  • Excuse me but I do not understand French. Can anyone tell why they are cycling in the snow and other details of the commentry? Thanks :)

  • The guy talking to the camera is a retired cyclist named Bernard Hinault; in 1980 he won an important one-day classic called Liege-Bastogne-Liege, which that year happened to be held in a freak April snowstorm. Hinault just took off on his own in the middle of the blizzard and beat the runner-up by almost ten minutes.

  • Thanks plenty. I am a big fan of European cycling and trying to catch up everything I can gather. Thank you.

  • I read that he lost the feeling in some of his fingers after this race, maybe that's what he's referring to when the camera focuses on his hands? I don't understand French either so not sure, but I'm guessing he's talking about that at that point.

  • @colmmagoo Yes, it is

  • @fisbo10011001 French doesn't help too much. Although Hinault speaks in French, the commentary is in Dutch. And they rode in the snow simply because there was snow on the day of the race.

  • Only him-Bernard Hinault "Le Blaireau"

    This victory is beyond Cycling...
