I see a lot of the comments and I can't help but wonder why people associate this to all Canadians. We are not proud of it and certainly do not get any money for it, some companies and lobbyists do.

It is not because your government (which in Canada's case, was chosen by only about 30% of the population) does something, that you agree with it. There were, and still are, protests against the exportation of asbestos in some major Canadian cities.

So so so so so very true. Asbestos is cheap and make concrete used in construction stronger and longer lasting. I would imagine 2nd or 3rd world countries would rather have a roof over their heads then worry about. If they also do not follow the procedures that Canadian manufactures specify its their own fault. Plenty of other materials that can cause cancer if not handling correctly.

this is in all actuality completely evil..asbestos is acutely toxic..sheer greed..yea it wont kill you instantly -unless your in a confined airspace and breath in enough fibers...this very wrong and a real shame..do a lil research--the fibers never dissapate once theyve lodged in your body,which they do extremely easily--its unconsciousable to still be manufacturing this at all..it slowly accumulates and kills and doesnt have to be breathed in to be hazardous!.
