you're right about the ruling on being in the crease, but look at 0:50 and pause it you can clearly see him making contact wiht the goalie, the goalie is aloud to own his whole crease without being touched which clearly see the player making contact with the goalie not giving him the best opportunity to save the puck.
Hope off the wings' nuts and watch the video again, you can clearly see him making contact wiht the goalie before and while the puck is going in, they made the right call.
@snicker5555 holmstrom did not run into gigure, gigure ran into holmstrom outside of the crease, plus the puck was in the net before gigure came close to holmstrom. the announcers hate the wings, yet they even believe that should have been a goal.

If a bad call is made against detroit, then you see it all over youtube, on forums, and just pages created to bash the call and say how the wings are being screwed by the NHL on purpose. Yet they forget they have won 4 cups in the NHL. So some how they are getting screwed yet winning cups and making playoff appearances.

Detroit's known for being a disciplined team, you can't suspend a player without reason. Detroit has several ways of scoring - dangles from Datsyuk, snipers from Rafalski or Lidstrom, clutch wrist-shots from Franzen. Main reason why Detroit is such a successful franchise is because they're so dynamic - our highest draft pick, in the past 19 seasons, is a 19th pick. Move the team? they're original 6, good luck.

They get the advantage of bad calls as well, example, the goal they took away from the hawks in the 2nd game detroit won against chicago in 09-10. Cost Chicago at the least an OT. Or either last year or this when they played the puck from the bench and ended up scoring and won that game in OT. or what about Kronwall who has had so many border line hits that the refs could call so many more Pens on.

@Kartkid024 no, it's because the NHL will not criticize it's own refs when they make horrible calls. No coach or player is allowed to criticize them either or they face stiff fines. When there is no review system by a league, you have bad calls coming more & more as we saw in this game. Also saw when the Wings won the cup a few years ago, Holmstrom's butt was near the crease & the disallowed the goal. You can be in the crease now days, but not your butt apparently.

Like i said, I'm not saying the refs don't suck. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it does and way to much, yes the NHL supports there refs too, but its not a conspericy against Detroit. They get bad calls against them and for them. @Kartkid024 Oh, I don't think there's any conspiracy, but Detroit fans have seen so many terrible calls, especially in playoffs that we feel a little paranoid at times. My complaint is when the league itself always backs the refs, even in terrible calls, you can and will not see an improvement. Instead, it gets worse. Believe me, it is a league-wide epidemic. I haven't forgotten Dallas being given the Cup despite Hull playing the puck in the crease (which was illegal at the time).

Damn that is close. Incidental contact with the player outside the crease should be a good goal. With the speed of the play, I don't see how you can blame the ref too much. It is damn close and the ref does not have the overhead view to see it at the best angle.
This is why these plays should be reviewable.
