  • Sabía que en algún lado había escuchado esa melodía de Coldplay

  • I saw him in concert twice when he was in Australia, and to this day, I have not seen a better entertainer. What a talent!

  • @TheWhiteCasel You don't say?

  • 0:19 angry face

  • shades of Elton John.

  • this goes to show just how great Coldplay is they are able to take this song and make it actually good!

  • @bskellz1134 No, once again it makes them unoriginal, just like when they got screwed over and fined for copying Joe Satriani's 'if i could fly' for their song 'Viva La Vida' in the chorus.

  • Anybody else expected a bunch of freaking Muppets to pop out of the piano and crash the screen, or is it just me? : /

  • Jajajajajaajajjajajajajajaj, me encanta!!!!!! :)

  • Cocaine is a hell of drug.

  • So... which guy from Coldplay listens to this kind of music? =?

  • @Sope39 hahahahaha so I wonder... :s

  • i'm from Rio and never heard this song, coldplay is much better!

  • 1:02 best part of the video

  • Funny that there is an advertisement for Coldplay merch in the corner of this video because this song inspired Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall,

  • When my baby smiles at me I go to rehab

  • Every teardrop is a waterfall :D

  • Coldplay - Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

    :)

  • ... Cocaine in the 80's...

  • Okay , how did i end up here ?

  • it just gets werider as the video goes on.

  • glad coldplay got to this :) by the way for everyone who thinks they stole it check out mylo xyloto on wiki.... it shows the sample credits :)

  • also, can i say, in coldplays video of every teardrop, they clearly stated:

"Written by Berryman / Buckland / Champion / Martin / Allen / Anderson.

The song contains compositional elements of "I Go To Rio" by Peter Allen (1976), written by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson."

  • 3:02 "Peter Allen...taught by experts" Well done to those experts indeed!

  • bias

  • Since when is it ripping off when you give credit?

Go to the video, and in the description it gives credit Peter Allen.

  • @murilodelmondes Don't ever talk about coldplay in the presence of the great Peter Allen. First of all COLDPLAY SUCKS! was it just sampling when they stole Joe Satriani's If I Could Fly. I didn't think so. Coldplay is garbage. Just as bad as lil' wayne if not worse. PINK FLOYD ALL THE WAY! and fuck country

  • @banditxjoe lol, biased much? Your entire comment is based around the fact that YOU think that Coldplay sucks. And fuck country? Was that supposed to be related?

Both are good songs, that's what he meant to say. You missed the point.

  • @banditxjoe listen, to all retards like you, coldplay even said, on their website, that their song contained elements of this. GO CHECK IF YOU DONT BELEIVE ME!

  • @banditxjoe you are a bit of a dickhead mate arnt you lol

  • Such a funny song.

  • This song is da bomb!!!!!!

  • people have nothing to do & make a song about this, oh shit. God bless Brazil

  • Good God this is weird

  • @MrA19A92 BAHAHA agreeeeddd.

  • I forgot to say that Barry White sang a very and elegant music about Rio.

  • What a stupid and idiot song.He was supposed to know that there are not any "bamba" and Brazil is not a jungle he thinks it is.We don´t have monkeys around the streets. We have modern cities and samba is the main music in Brazil.Boring song.

  • @medicoonline ur right

  • @medicoonline What a stupid and idiot comment. You was supposed to know that the song IS A FUCKING SONG, NOT A DESCRIPTION OF THE DAMN COUNTRY. Get the fuck over it and don't comment if you don't like something.

  • Dancing With The Stars got me hooked on this song.

  • This doesn't even sound similar to Coldplay's song

  • @lethyxmusic Maybe because they made a "Coldplay twist" to it, since their songs do not sound like this at all -.-'' Logic thinking, mate

  • Beyonce samples music all the time...

  • coldplay?

  • coldplay steals other peoples music to make money off of it... theres nothing wrong with that... right? wait a second somethings not right there...

  • @xmanwomanx SAMPLING. fucking UTILISING ELEMENTS OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MUSIC IN NEW COMPOSITIONS.

it's one of the FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF 20TH CENTURY MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT.

    for FUCKSSAKE

  • @coyel oh okay so sampling is just another word for ripping off of other people, but its acceptable in today's pop music. its pretty sad, some of the stuff that has become acceptable in modern pop music.

    P.S. i smell a coldplay fanboy lol

  • @xmanwomanx

it's fucking ridiculous that people still wheel out this argument!

disallowing sampling means you'd have to get rid of any and all hip-hop/electronic/dance influenced music.

where the fresh fuck anyone got the idea you can NEVER use someone else's ideas directly is a complete mystery to me. it's fucking cultural development. it's how art has always functioned

ps i though their last album was nice but generally i'm not a fan *LOL*

  • @coyel its not how art has always functioned... thats how commercial products have always functioned. the only thing that has developed culturally in dance/hiphop/pop in recent decades is the acceptance of unoriginality and watered-down "music". even dance music from the 80's and some of the 90's was pretty interesting and original. these modern "artists" have no passion and only write what they think will make them more money

  • @xmanwomanx oh yeah, fair enough then!

no interesting or original sample-based music has been made since the mid 90s.

    *sarcastic thumbs up*

  • @coyel if that is sarcastic then i guess you are implying the opposite, however, "original sample-based music" is an oxymoron and does not exist (because it contradicts its self)

i was actually saying that not all dance from the 80s and 90s was "sample-based", back in a time when artists took pride in writing their own music instead of rehashing other peoples' ideas

  • @xmanwomanx the whole basis of hiphop is sampling. that's what hiphop is! no sampling = no hiphop

it doesn't contradict itself - using the drum beat/riff/chord progression/vocal/whatever from something doesn't mean you're inherently not being creative.

eg: 'every teardrop' is a very different song from this one (i mean... i think this is much better, but that isn't always the case)

honestly, it's ridiculous that anyone needs to have this discussion in two thousand and fucking eleven!

  • @coyel my point being modern hip-hop is unoriginal and terrible. but i guess you are okay with unoriginality which is why this argument is pointless so i wont be replying anymore. cheers

  • @xmanwomanx shhhhhiiiiiiiittttt what are you even chatting about?

hip-hop was originally just looped breakbeats from disco or soul music with an MC. more or less every classic rap song ever has some kind of sampled element to it

then vs. now has nothing to do with it.

if you think nobody makes good hiphop nowadays you aren't looking hard enough.

oh my days i just noticed there's a motherfucking david guetta video in your favourites. fuck this shit my friend.

    fuck. this. shit.

  • @coyel lol yeah because david guetta is my idol. hes a music producer who knows how to make money and hes the best out there. has nothing to do with the POS songs he feeds people lol. call me a hypocrite but while i hate unoriginal music, if i ever decide to produce music for a living, im gonna sell what sells. not my fault the mainstream are a bunch of idiots

  • @xmanwomanx hey, coldplay rule at making money - favourite that shit, boy!

also enjoying the implication that you could 'do a david guetta' if you found the time

  • Claude brought me here ;)

  • COLDPLAY YOU'RE FANTASTIC 'cause this is AMAZING !!!! :)

  • Coldplay sucks

  • @Ndcar YOU TOO!!

  • @nico2492tri your mother, MORON... COLDPLAY SUCKS

  • That Guy's face is so funny :D

    Coldplay <3

  • coldplay use ingredients to make better music. so what's wrong with that???

  • Shut it MrOboy

  • Listen to the song Ritmo De La Noche!

  • High Jackman brought me here!

  • I love Coldplay but I think this is better than Every Teardrop!

  • There's nothing unoriginal about Coldplay's use of this. It's a light sample. Honestly, "Every Teardrop's" hook operates entirely independently of this chord progression.

  • Comment removed

  • this guy made famous now in 2011 because of and thanks coldplay. that's a thing i know is true

  • Dunno what everyone is on about with Coldplay.

I saw Peter Allen perform this live in Sydney, Australia and it was an awesome show from start to finish. Give the man credit - he WROTE the song!

  • this is actually pretty good

  • horrible (:

  • @melonbandit

    Like Coldplay!

  • Do Kralheo

Can somebody explain me what this have to do with Coldplay ?!

  • @youplaboumz coldplay sampled these song to make their song "every teardrop is a watefall" (they got inspired by these in other words and credited it )

  • @danG0713 yea Chris Martin heard this song in a movie, and thought it was great. and it is (:

  • lol this barely sounds like 'every teardrop' it just has a similar piano rhythm, the joe satriani incident seemed more like plagiarism to me.

  • The one & only Peter Allen, there is no other entertainer who performs & writes as well.

  • wtf every teardrop is a waterfall sounds nothing like this. not even the same chords...why the hell did coldplay give this guy credit?? makes no sense. btw you people saying this song is better are morons...this guy looks like GOB from arrested development

  • Has this guy ever been to Rio, or was it just a dream?

  • this version is much better 100% than coldplay version,i dont like coldplay any more, from bad to worst

  • I LOVE coldplay but this wasn't a great song from them, kinda disappointed me a little bit. Moving to Mars FTW!!!!

  • I'm sick of people saying Coldplay copied this song. Ever heard about sampling? Coldplay asked for permission to use elements of this song to make one of their own, much like Madonna have done with Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme. So stop bitching and enjoy both songs.

  • @murilodelmondes They asked for permission this time because they got caught when they "sampled" Satriani on their last album.

  • @murilodelmondes yea but coldplay has enough publicity. without this song the new album would still be a big hit. so why do they have to take the same chord progression? laziness

  • @murilodelmondes THANK YOU!

  • @murilodelmondes pretty good comment you comment you got there!!, you have my thumb!!

  • I love Rio de Janeiro, and that's a great song! Better than coldplay version.

My mom saw coldplay version and told me it was a copy of this song.

    I ♥ Brazil!

  • @RafaelPedrodaSilva yes my mom also saw the version of coldplay and said the same as your mom,my mom lived in Brazil many years ago

  • i knew this song before coldplay but i love coldplay too. i know this song from the muppets. lol

  • Actually the Simpsons Brazil episode brought me here....

  • sounds nothing like Coldplays' song...people just love stirring up trouble for successful bands.

  • I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON

  • Nothing like "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" Coldplay's song is better

  • Did someone konw that a french singer (Claude François) singed this song in french and it was a powerful success !!

    See by yourself...

    /watch?v=_0QLYywmZG8&feature=related

  • 0:20 is no one else creeped out by the face he makes when he says la bamba?

  • @chimp2monkey HAHAHAHA... the whole thing is pretty creepy!

  • Anyways Coldplay can't do this awesome unexpected dance.

  • Thumbs up if you knew this before Coldplay...

  • They said they were inspired by this song and Ritmo De La Notche.

Plus, there is so much music in this world.

SO many bands have been accused of "Plagiarism"

ranging from Eminem to Metallica, etc etc

  • 42 people didn't go to Rio.

  • @snootzie78 But 918 On the other hand do -.-

  • my marching band plays this!

  • Comment removed

  • Peter Allen has thanks Coldplay!....

  • Ha, coldplay comments brought me here also. !

  • damn coldplay ... im here cos of them ... i go to rio is also great ... who is with me ???

  • HAhaha, Coldplay also brought me here... FINALLY suddenly it got to my mind... when this song was on the radio I FINALLY realized YES, this is the song on which Coldplay based that piano sample! ;)

'free at last, what a blast' melodically also reminds me of a Dutch song called 'Anne-Marie' by Toontje Lager

  • :D

  • Coldplay brought me here!!!!!

  • who says that a sample is a new idea with a great song (coldplay) and when another song stole a sound is bad (ritmo de la noche)???

  • @latinoalex5 yeah -_- anyway both songs are awesome :D

  • i wonder why the original isnt this fast or on this key...

  • forget coldplay im definitely going to rio and learn how to dance like this 1:34

  • thumbs up if you DIDN'T came here because of Coldplay

  • @rantonsky1 i came here because of THE SACADOS' song "ritmo de la noche" which is totally a rip off of coldplay's nu single!!!

  • The Sacados's song *ritmo de la noche* was very known in South America in the early 90's. The band is from Argentina. And Coldplay just only made me remember those good times.

  • @rantonsky1 Sorry bub but most people did.

  • PEEEEEEETTTTTTTEEEEEEEEERRRRRRR AAAAAALLLLAAAAAANNNNNNN

omg he just kicked ass with this song YEABOI

  • oh god he has vampire teeth.cool song however .he was a great artist.love coldplays version too

  • Fantastic!

  • This is a far superior song to dance to than Coldplay's "...Waterfall." If you can get a digital download or off a CD try playing it and see the reaction.

I remember hearing it around the Greek islands and it had a feelgood effect that made everyone want to get up and party. It's a classic!

  • Such a talented man.

  • 1:33-1:48 jim carry in the mask

  • Is anyone else wondering how this faggots song has any relevance to the Coldplay song?

  • @toastmaster7727 parts of the piano rythm

  • @toastmaster7727 bro calm down

  • @toastmaster7727 No, i'm wondering how can't you notice it -.-

  • @toastmaster7727 You can tell right away if you ever listened to "Every Teardrop's a Waterfall."

  • Every Tear! Every Tear! Every Teardrop is A Waterfall!

  • this video is not in playback...at all...

  • THUMBS UP!

  • its a little different from coldplays song...just not the same

  • This is the cheesiest thing I've ever seen. LMAO.

  • Fuck Coldplay, I go to dance with Peter Allen and his maracas!

  • ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!

on August 29 we all watch "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" so it gets 80 million views atleast and lets all try to make coldplay #1 again:)

please thumbs this up or copy and paste to other vids so everyone can see:)

  • @VivaLaVida332 gosh, I love Coldplay, but do You think they really desperately need 80 million views on Youtube? What for?

  • both this song and "every teardrop is a waterfall" are great!

  • whats is this Coldplay???? limao

  • I really don't see it

  • Thumbs up to the only Academy Award winner (Best Song - Arthur - 1981) who can dance like that

  • shut the fuck up about Coldplay, just listen to this good song opposed to their shite songs..

  • @WadeAblitt You callin Coldplay "shit songs"? Lmfao. Please kid.

  • @WadeAblitt Lol, yeah you would know all about shit songs right? You listen to Green Day, your argument is invalid little child.

  • yes yes yes this was what i was looking for :)

  • WONDERFUL DANCING!

  • el que no vio esto por coldplay

  • this is funny and awesome at the same time xD

  • are his moves supposed to be sexy?

  • It is best the coldplay version.

  • I expected him to start singing every teardrop is a waterfall :(

  • @Beowaffle lolz me too XP

  • Esta version de The Sacados y la de Peter Allen es mejor que la copia que hizo Coldplay, no me gusta para nada la versión de Coldplay, vivan los 90's.

  • @jmiguelrp7 Q CREES QUE NO NOS INTERESA LO Q TE CREAS :)))

  • le copio coldplay y the sacados XD

  • Goddam this song is engraved in my soul. Was one of our parade tunes for the 2011 Rose Parade. Must've literally played it over 1000 times...
