Look at Europe and specifically the UK. For 20 years the UK has been dominated by the Labour party. It is not any kind of exaggeration to say that '1984' is in full effect there. They have a severe loss of liberties and state controls on their lives from cameras on the streets everywhere to state control over their bodies.
