Hi Jason - Great video and I love the scenery! I was wondering: if I combine the Frontier Pro with AquaMira tablets, would I then be able to use this as my primary water purification system? I love how compact and lightweight this is and I'd rather use this than my 11-ounce Katadyn Hiker pump. I hate pump filters because they can clog and malfunction and they're just kind of a pain.
Hey Jason, I noticed that this review it a bit of a older post. So the question at hand is... How did this water filter hold up? I'm assuming you've had time to test test test and I was just wondering. Thanks
@jasonklass Your right I was'nt very specific at all. Let me clear that up. I'm referring to over all performance. Has your thoughts about the filter changed at all? I find that sometimes my feelings about a product change over time the more I use it.
Forgot to mention that a pool 'shock' product containing chlorine hypochlorite is cheap in bulk, stores well, and purfies as does bleach. Bleach looses it's known concentration after about a year.
Thanks for the review. Bought one. It can be set up in 'drip' mode. If the water might be contaminated by feces or generally exposed to humans, boiling to kill virus' is best. Chlorine dioxide as found in Aquamira tablets or Chlor Floc is the next best to boiling. It also reduces sentiment and the chemicals that are suspended in that sediment.
As you said this should be considered a backup filter since the protection is not enough. I have a similar one. It is the Frontier Emergency Water Filter System Straw. At $7 I got one for each of my family's packs as an emergency filter.
Yes, by car. I'm not sure how you could get there if you're taking a train. The nearest town is Moab and as far as I know, you have to drive from there to the park.

The audio is bizarre. Did you dub it later? Or are you wearing a mic of some sort?
Useful and entertaining.

@jons4real
Can you be a little more specific about what you mean when you ask about how it held up? Do you mean the life of the filter?

Aqua Mira's website says it removes 99.9% of giardia and cryptosporidia. I'm making this my primary filter for backpacking.
Cybeq 2 years ago
@Cybeq It seems you need some type of chemical to kill viruses and other bacteria with the AquaMira...
