Sri Purandara Dasaru is really great. He was a maha bhagavatha who brought Sri Krishna parmathma very close to Kannadadigas through his wonderful compositons. He is also right called the father of Karnatak(Carnatic) Music, which he made it very simple to learn for the beginners.
