is this really 5 gallons? cause it seems like there are lotta fish? and i was taught that the rule is 1inch = 1 gallon? was i taught wrong? i'd appreciate your kind responses - anyone?
Question - For your fish tank in the filter there is a thing u but in it right u should know what i mean , well i have one but i dont know where to get a new thing and what is that called -mine is like a square, thing like cotton covering it and its like proteected in side with plastic something like that.sorry if i cant really explain because im a beginner. So where do i get those filter thingy ?
@Allray15. Totally kool aquarium. What are you going to do with all of the cute babies? I bet it feels good to get your fish to breed like that. That lets you know that you're doing things right.
yah, they all grown up. unfortunately, i have to give some to my relatives and friends since i dont have space to care them. anyways, its really good breeding them!
Well you will usually see the guppies when its ready for hatch fry the part where the fry will go out will be darker and guppies will tend to swim slower, so thats the time you will transfer them to other place for the guppy to release the frys. it takes overnight.
looks good but its not what i would put in my tank...mine has a lot of aquatic plants and wood with rocks much more natural everyone has their own taste of setup i guess
well its ok as long its not from sea :) because rocks or shells from saltwater areas still have the salt content even after several washing which are not good for some type of freshwater fishes.
actually i was confused about the question ask. Ghost Shrimps do eat small fishes once caught. they have this behaviour and experienced it. ofcourse they can only attack smaller than there size. thats why its better to have them in big spaces are overcrowding them can cause attacks to one another.
i just got my new tank like a week ago but i only put two ghost catfish in it and an algee eater with some decorations in it. what else can i put into the tank?
if you have a 5 gallon go return BOTH of those fish right now! Algea eaters or plecos(same thing) get 1 foot and need at least a 50 gallon and I dont know to much about ghost cats but im pretty sure you have them in a 5g tank
how big is your tank? actually ghost catfish dont really grow big, but they are really nice to watch because of the transparent body of them. what algae eater you have?pleco?SAE / CAE ? if you have small tank, any kind of tetras are the best for it.
@nosyiam - ghost shrimps are omnivous so means will eat anything and can fish. its better to buy fishes that swim on the top and middle like danios or tetra's , never buy fishes that can swim in the bottom of your tank as ghost shrimp might caught them for dinner. :)
@YoutwixMe - how big are the guppies? it should be alright . just dont add more. it will overcrowd and you will have problems. thanks for watching. apperciated.
thanks I totally changed my mind lol. Im going to get 4 neon tetras and 2 male guppies. The guppies are about 1 inch long. Thanks for answering me! :)
2. this means the device that generates bubbles inside the tank. (oxygen)
3. yes ofcourse fishes need oxygen, however fishes like bettas, zebras, tetras can live without airpump but regular water changes needs to be done.
4. there are different type of filters, like internal filter, overheadfilters, hangOnBack filters, canister filters and so on... they go accordingly to you need and tank requirements.
well its not too much. as soon as you setup everything you dont need to worry about the cost. they are only small fishes and eat little so your 20g flake food will last for 6 months to 12 months.
yup! my tank is actually good now! i think my betta loves it when i added two plastic plants which i will change into live plants soon when we move.. I might get a new tank so i can setup a community tank. because my betta see's his reflection when i turn on the lights
That's what the problem is , begginers needs to start from the 1st level to the next level, its easy for them to see what exactly going on inside the tank, ofcourse as a beginner you should start with hardy small fishes with small quantity. you can easily see if you have fed it to much or if fish dies that you can easily notice them compare to switching to first to large tanks. Beginners should see the real fact they are into and not relying on errors because they will get use to it.
i have a 5 gallon bowfront acrylic fish tank that i had for 1 goldfish it died n 2 years then i finnally figured out that 1 goldfish needs about 15 gallons! dat was a huge mistake 4 me, im not sure if i should move on 2 a 10 gallon or stick to my 5, but what kind of fish wud u reccommend for a 5 gallon tank? and also a 10 gallon?
yes , lots of products in the market. as soon as you buy it , stick it to ur tank and plug it, no hussle. some internal filters are together with mechanical filtration inside so no need to worry. just make sure you fill your tank first with water before you turn it on :)
Filter - Internal filters / Bottom filters are good at this stage.
Heater - Depends on the place. If your leaving in a cool place then you might need to buy it. But if your in a room temp place then no need. Just make sure to monitor the temp of the tank.
Thermometer - to monitor the temp of your tank. Good for temp between 22'C to 32'C max.
Fish - for beginners its better to choose small fish, like Zebra,Guppy and Tetra fish as they can adjust easily on your tank temperature and dosent need much oxgyen (no need to add pump). You can add these 3 type of fish all of them in tank. Make sure to keep them pair to one another.
Fish Food - Dont use other brands that are cheaper. Prefer TETRA MIN for better and healthier fish.

how much would a filter be?
when you say air pump, what do you mean?
is there certain fish that have to have an air pump?
are the filters universal, like, can they go on all different tanks.
i have so many questions, sorry!
valentinecutiee 2 years ago
1. filter will cost you only 10 USD or less.
2. this means the device that generates bubbles inside the tank. (oxygen)
3. yes ofcourse fishes need oxygen, however fishes like bettas, zebras, tetras can live without airpump but regular water changes needs to be done.
4. there are different type of filters, like internal filter, overheadfilters, hangOnBack filters, canister filters and so on... they go accordingly to you need and tank requirements.

well its not too much. as soon as you setup everything you dont need to worry about the cost. they are only small fishes and eat little so your 20g flake food will last for 6 months to 12 months.

My 5 Gallon Fish Tank (Guppy,Guppy Babies,Zebra,Tetra Neon and Yellow Snail).
Good for Beginners who want to start an aquarium,
What you need :
Tank - 3 Gallon to 10 gallon's for beginners.
allray15 2 years ago
Filter - Internal filters / Bottom filters are good at this stage.
Heater - Depends on the place. If your leaving in a cool place then you might need to buy it. But if your in a room temp place then no need. Just make sure to monitor the temp of the tank.
Thermometer - to monitor the temp of your tank. Good for temp between 22'C to 32'C max.
allray15 2 years ago
Gravel - White or Red are good. Mixing it will bring good sight in your tank.
Wood - (optional) little wood will be just fine.
Aquatic plants - I recommend to atleast have 1 or 2 plant inside. Benifits of giving oxygen.
allray15 2 years ago
Fish - for beginners its better to choose small fish, like Zebra,Guppy and Tetra fish as they can adjust easily on your tank temperature and dosent need much oxgyen (no need to add pump). You can add these 3 type of fish all of them in tank. Make sure to keep them pair to one another.
Fish Food - Dont use other brands that are cheaper. Prefer TETRA MIN for better and healthier fish.
