Unfortunately, there is an old adage, which goes something like this: "Once an ectomorph, always an ectomorph". That said, SOME ectos are in much better physical shape than others - there is absolutely no doubt about that. I guess that embarking on a systematic programme of regular weight-training won't do me any harm - even at my (relatively) advanced juncture in life. It may even do me some good!
