Thanks for posting this! @ Sasha, bodies float. Most stayed at the top and were picked up over several months. Others stayed inside and more than likely imploded once the ship hit 300-500 ft. The remaining were eaten by sea creatures and rotted away, hence the shoes all over the place side by side....which should never be removed from there. Ballard did us a great thing keeping this site open, Cameron even got Ballards approval for his dives to show respect.
olympic was classified a wreck in march 1912 at admiralty court hearing due to hawke incident if titanic sank april 1912 which ship was almost grounded of lands end uk just 7 weeks after so called titanic sank
THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING I WAS MYSTIFIED WATCHING THIS A JOURNEY THROUGH 1912 & PRESENT ALL AT THE SAME TIME. EVERYONE DID BEYOND A GREAT JOB FILMING THIS, PROVIDING DETAILS BY RON PARKS & KENT, THE LADY WHO TYPED FURIOUSLY ADDING ALL THE INFORMATION, THE STORIES, LIGHTING, THE COMPTER SHOWING IT'S TRACKING, EVERY SINGLE PERSON WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY. JAMES CAMERON=PERFECTION. THE SCENE OVERLOOKING THE BOW WAS BREATHTAKING. I THINK EVERY PERSON WOULD LOVE TO STAND ON THE BOW OF THE TITANIC.
Awesome! Thanks to technology of modern sciences, and scientists; and those brave explorers and their knowledge in operating those delicate machines, we get to go and see what we otherwise would not have been able to; had they not taken us there, and given us this great tour of the interiors of the Titanic, a piece of human history; that can now be preserved visually long after Titanic had fully rotted and gone. Also, good exhibits for lessons on how important it is to make good human decisions!
What struck me the most is that when things got really chaotic and dramatic towards the end of the sinking everyone's chance of survival was exactly the same. That line in the film that Murdoch says to Cal "Your money can't save you any more than it can save me" struck a chord with me. At the end of the day we're all exactly the same and on the same level. Death doesn't discriminate. Dunno why but that just really struck a chord with me. :) Love this documentary!
The Titanic was a minor sea tradegdy yes, But it was because the Titanic sank that ships became safer, Titanic sinking was a major changing point in passenger liners.
@LittleTeddylove1 absolutely. it would have probably flooded only one air tight compartment as compared to 5 which is enough to sink the ship. They just didn't have enough time to think about possible outcomes when the iceberg was first spotted. its just instinct to try and dodge something directly in front of you rather than hit it head on.
@derangedslayer1 I believe they have thought about doing such a thing, but now, its not really a ship anymore, it's more of a resting place for those 1500 souls that were lost. So out of respect for the people that died and their families, they have left it there.
@derangedslayer1 its embedded into a clay seafloor..if they tried to pull it out the bottom half would just tear off and stuff would collapse..theres just no way to bring it up without it crumbling and falling apart.
The MV Wilhelm Gustloff was a German KdF flagship during 1937-1945, constructed by the Blohm & Voss shipyards. It sank after being torpedoed by the Soviet submarine S-13 on 30 January 1945.
An estimated 9,400 people were killed in the sinking.[2][3] If accurate, this would be the largest known loss of life occurring during a single ship sinking in recorded maritime history.

So there are microorganisms in the ocean that actually eat steel and the Titanic will eventually collapse and disintegrate? Fascinating place the ocean is...
here is a question do any of the life boats still exist like preserved or did they let them float out to who knows ware after the passingers were resqued
@callie084 No chance. The people that went down with the ship aren't there anymore, they all got taken by the crabpeople as soon as they reached the bottom. Some say they still are being held captive in the underearth...
I don't really see the problem that it was mostly the rich who were saved. When you pay more for a better ticket, then you pay for your safety as well. Think about a Cadillac compared to a Geo. You pay for all those extra features.
The thing that sucks about modern society is the fact that there isn't much risk anymore. No longer are there many mega disasters. It makes life so boring.
@LokiusMaximus Absolutely, why should a rich man give up his space on a lifeboat to make room for women and children who are poor, as we all know, people with lots of money are far more worthy of life, I don`t suppose you`re American by any chance are you?
Amazing to see the REAL Titanic before it decompose totally, I think its sad they couldent take Titanic up from the depth, I heared they thought of doing that but if they did Titanic should just broke down to pieces...its just so fantastic Titanic has been so well preserved in 100years in the water on a deep of 5000 feet, really amazing!!
it was so unfair to leave the lifeboats go only with the rich people..They were all humans for godshake everyone deserved to be rescued...And i trully believe that the one who had to die it was the owner of the ship because it was his fault!
@nikosyoulie : Well in that time service people or 3 class passengers was worth totally nothing, the rich people/ 1 class passengers come always first. Not even the 3 class women and children dident get into the life boats, even if that was the role "women and childs first"... =(

100 years this year...unbelievable. Want to go up to Belfast in April n check out the new Titanic Museum. Seen it from outside and it has a ship bow on each side. They are suppoded to be the original size of the real deal. This gives a clue of how gigantic in size that ship was. They recently even found the old small ship that used to bring people from the docks onto the Titanic, it had been used as restauranmt in France, but is now back in Harland & Wolff as part of the Titanic exhibition.
Sad to think that the tragedy could have been prevented (or diminished) by a more humble approach to Titanic's design. Just to think that they could build a ship that is unsinkable is a testimony to utmost pride. Her wreck is a monument to human arrogance.
@Zarathustra799 This comment is totally unsuitable and stupid! It shows no respect for the casualties in the desaster and neither any clue of what nuclear weapons have done in this world. If things were that easy to be solved, then I'd like to have a remote control to switch your unsuitable comments off!
If you don't like it then don't listen -besides, noone is forcing you to watch this!- and save us from that nonsense blah you're givin here! Get over yourself, this is HISTORY!
Oh boo hoo!! Do yourself and the rest of us a favour - if you're sick of the Titanic - DON'T WATCH A VIDEO ABOUT IT! Are you brain dead or what? Fuckwit.
April 14 2012 will mark the cententary of Titanic's sinking... there will be LOTS and LOTS of media coverage and events to mark that. So I guess that means you'll want to kill yourself. Good.
@Zarathustra799 Yeah, but not as interesting, and I'd be flamed if I gave the Russian perspective.
The Titanic was the biggest, newest, flashiest and opulent ship of it's time. The press dubbed her 'unsinkable'. Talk about tempting fate.
It doesn't matter that you think it's dull or whatever. The fact is, that Titanic, for who know what reason, is almost a cult and probably the best known ship name of all time.
@MrMentic The Titanic was just a minor tragedy compared to the Gustloff where over 9,300 people died, children and women included. So there you go, the Titanic is not even close to being "the most catastrophic disaster of all times" FFS.
@MrMentic Neither did I, until Zarathustra799 mentioned it here. Look, just cause you haven't heard of it, doesn't mean that it haven't existed. Imagine if someone from a country without connection to the rest of the world, i.e Northkorea, told you that Titanic has never existed. Would you consider that respectful?
Search for it on Wikipedia, but don't be surprised if the number of casualties way surpasses those of Titanic (about 7000 more than on Titanic),
@effo88 Then, on the other hand, the Titanic-catastrophe made it clear how much ones life can depend on if you're born rich or poor. Just the fact that another human came up with the idea of valuing the passengers life, being men, woman or imo worst: children and even babies, on their class and the fact that the people in charge without any hesitation decided to send them into a watery grave just cause they're coming from less good circumstances makes me ashamed of being human.
@JetReflex Absolutely. I could have stood another 5 hours easy.
If Jim stayed there filming for hours after the special ended then there is a *lot* more footage laying around. I hope it turns up soon in another of his docos.
I gotta say, whenever the explorers and Cameron got excited, I got excited too! What a beautiful relic of the past! I really enjoy old pieces of history like this one. RIP Titanic and its passengers. You certainly left a legacy of bravery and magnificance.
What is he saying about Murdock giving his life saving people? Cameron's film depicts Murdock shooting himself in the head after shooting Leonardo DiCaprio's irish pal. It's a big scandal and his family sued because he had no reason to believe Murdock had shot himself (or anyone else.)
Murdock's granddaughter is now saying that Murdock had initially ordered a turn to port, before changing his mind and going starboard, possibly wasting crucial seconds. She says it was a family secret.
Great video, but James Cameron really is a first class yutz. His attempts to be funny, witty, or profound were weak. No wonder his film's dialogue is the most heavily criticized part of the movie. I love the movie, but I agree with that criticism. Too bad there aren't more expeditions to view more of the ship.
@ReallyBadSeed your comment is so ignorant and small minded it's unbelievable, and you clearly don't understand the Titanic movie and the era it is set in. Mr Cameron may not be witty, funny but at least he is trying.... miserable troll!
53:03 you did not build or didi american heritage the boat is a British boat it was taking "British" passengers to start a new life in america but americans are basically british decendents but the english built it.
@tolstoy67 yer your right sorry but belfast is in northern irland so it apart of unitedkindom and enggland rules belfast so england told them to built it because they got big workforce and well skilled men. <3
its really sad but in a way the disaster was a good thing we learned alot of lessons if it weren't for the titanic disaster ships might not have more lifeboats and no insults please
@titanic5577 Thats true... and if the loss of life had not happened on Titanic, it most certainly would have happened on another ship at a later time... The same can be said of air disasters today... while they are tragic events, the investigations of many air accidents over the years have made aircraft and air travel in general much, much safer that it once was. As tragic as Titanic was, a lot of important lessons were learned that have saved many people since then...
I have seen this documentry when it came plus I like that this is a extented version of it plus it's very impressing how some of the rooms have stuff that is still intact eventhough this was made in 2005 I bet it looks different now but the room I like the most is the Turkish Baths
why they are only making footage on the front part of titanic? how about the half part of it? i want to see the propellers and the half part of it......
Now, according to research of the disaster, they got 3 warnings about the position of the iceberg. Well, maybe they didn't couldn´t interpret morse code, maybe there was sabotage or maybe they thought that nothing could sink Titanic. Anyway, we hate you Mr. Philips.
There was a documentary where they went into a room in the movie it's the room where jack drew rose and they showed a clock on the mantle it's so rusted over but you could see its short hand was on the 2 and the other past the 20 creepy titanic sank at 2:20 it's as if it's frozen in time
I'll never get tired of this. No matter how many dives they make, if they film them and then broadcast them, I'll be there watching each one in amazement. But I feel we're in a desperate race to make even MORE dives and record every inch possible, because Titanic is quickly turning to dust.
....and most bodies more than likely were in the stern due to the o2 and temporary security....then met a death when she imploded. That is such a dangerous part to dive. No rooms really left, and the French picked over anything worth seeing. They even documented it.

What happened with the 2011 expedition? Did it get scrapped? Is it on here?

What is he saying about Murdock giving his life saving people? Cameron's film depicts Murdock shooting himself in the head after shooting Leonardo DiCaprio's irish pal. It's a big scandal and his family sued because he had no reason to believe Murdock had shot himself (or anyone else.)
Murdock's granddaughter is now saying that Murdock had initially ordered a turn to port, before changing his mind and going starboard, possibly wasting crucial seconds. She says it was a family secret.
counterhon 2 months ago
@counterhon How'd she find that out, Ouija board! LOL
The helmsman survived. He told the story. I can't see why he would lie.
Hard a starboard, just bad luck, but I always thought the rudder a bit small.

ReallyBadSeed 2 months ago
@ReallyBadSeed your comment is so ignorant and small minded it's unbelievable, and you clearly don't understand the Titanic movie and the era it is set in. Mr Cameron may not be witty, funny but at least he is trying.... miserable troll!

That was amazing, id never in my wildest dreams think how the interior of the titanic would look like, especially as deep as F deck. Unbelievable!

very cool. If money was no object...could the ship be raised and brought to the surface or to shallower water?

@MotorsbyShooter it has nothing to do with money its about respect. It is now a resting place which should not be disturbed ...

its really sad but in a way the disaster was a good thing we learned alot of lessons if it weren't for the titanic disaster ships might not have more lifeboats and no insults please
titanic5577 2 months ago in playlist More videos from LostWhiteStarLiners
@titanic5577 Thats true... and if the loss of life had not happened on Titanic, it most certainly would have happened on another ship at a later time... The same can be said of air disasters today... while they are tragic events, the investigations of many air accidents over the years have made aircraft and air travel in general much, much safer that it once was. As tragic as Titanic was, a lot of important lessons were learned that have saved many people since then...

I have seen this documentry when it came plus I like that this is a extented version of it plus it's very impressing how some of the rooms have stuff that is still intact eventhough this was made in 2005 I bet it looks different now but the room I like the most is the Turkish Baths

why they are only making footage on the front part of titanic? how about the half part of it? i want to see the propellers and the half part of it......
princemyco 2 months ago
Is there a way to post this without Cameron's moronic utterances?
MyMomSaysSo 2 months ago
Now, according to research of the disaster, they got 3 warnings about the position of the iceberg. Well, maybe they didn't couldn´t interpret morse code, maybe there was sabotage or maybe they thought that nothing could sink Titanic. Anyway, we hate you Mr. Philips.
Apollomoonwalker 3 months ago
@Apollomoonwalker What!!!!
Phillips duly passed on the warnings about growlers, ice sightings etc. to the bridge.
Smith made the decisions. The Californian message is overblown.

I'll never get tired of this. No matter how many dives they make, if they film them and then broadcast them, I'll be there watching each one in amazement. But I feel we're in a desperate race to make even MORE dives and record every inch possible, because Titanic is quickly turning to dust.
