This recording is from October 17 1958, Capitol Tower studios. Musicians are; Johnny Meeks gtr, Cliff Simmons pno, Vincent gtr, vocals, Grady Owen Bass, Clyde Pennington dms Jackie Kelso sax (slim chance it could be Plas Johnson on sax) Produced by Ken Nelso - a very important person in the Rockn'Roll history, dead at ripe age of 93. At this recording date they also made "Anna Annabelle" and " Gone Gone Gone". Royalties was split, 2 % for Gene and 2% for the Caps. This was line up # 6
Cont...I doubled my post as the 1st show up later...strange. Anyway, Blue Caps # 6 and the last one. These boys did 21 tracks over 7 days. Gene, due to his hitless situation and probably other reasons - owing the group 3 weeks pay - did a bunk - leaving them stranded in LA without transport, instruments or money. The MU withdraw his card and membership and he allegedly fled to Alaska. Gene got back on his feet (or foot!) and went to UK in Dec 1959. This is stuff that would make a great movie!
BTW; It was recorded October 17 1958, Capitol Tower and musicians are; Johnny Meeks gtr, Grady Owen bass, Clyde Pennington dms, Jackie Kelso (slim chance it can be Plas Johnson though) on that killer sax - Plas, isn't that a cool name or for that matter Panama Francis ( not here) - Clifton (Cliff) Simmons pno. Another source says also Jerry Singleton was playing ryth gtr here though I can't hear a rythm gtr. Produced by Ken Nelson - another real important name in the history of Rockn'Roll.

Would the Johnny Burnette Trio be hanging about in 1959? Surely it has to be a picture taken in 1956?
