They might share the personified good vs. evil archetype, but the story of how those good and bad guys came to be might be different [independent from each other], meaning that u wouldn't have to necessarily believe in both opposing forces given that the existence of one did not depend on the other.

Actually, before Christianity Satan was actually the pagan God of Fertility. Then Christianity, which had been formerly suppressed and subdued, was brought back by Clementine, until the Pagans became the ones persecuted. Pan's name was gradually reformed into 'Satan', which is a word meaning (roughly, I'm not entirely sure) 'enemy'. Neither religion is warped or wrong, but they both disagree and oppose one another.

They might share the personified good vs. evil archetype, but the story of how those good and bad guys came to be might be different [independent from each other], meaning that u wouldn't have to necessarily believe in both opposing forces given that the existence of one did not depend on the other.
